Rome - short break

Any advise lads/lassies, never been but have never heard anything but good things. Will be there for 3 nights early feb if i book it but effectively only 2 days to do the sites. Any hotel / restaurant recommendations ?The airport is the Fiumicino which i think is further out than the other one.

Will be there for the New Year. Places to stay are around the Spanish Steps/Trevi Fountaint area or the Trastevere, which is the main location for restaurants and bars apparently. Booked an apartment with this crowd http://www.sleepinitaly.com/

If you put Rome into the search option you will get a lenthy topic on short breaks in rome from earlier in the year, i would link it if i had the wherewithal to do it.
