What an absolute mess.
Do we simply not have contractors capable of building complex facilities on time and in budget?

The problem is usually incompetent Clients and their incompetent Design Teams who when it comes to contentious issues on construction projects usually end up getting their eye wiped or are left holding the baby.  Casement 2040 is a fair, if not generous, prediction.

No harm but that's not the contractors fault, they're just doing what some knob in an office decided looked nice on paper but is actually horseshit in reality.

For efficiency, speed and savings the hospital should have been built on a green field site where they could have demolished any old shite in the way and ripped it out. Instead they'd to build in between old c***ts of buildings, tie in to several existing buildings and tap into a sewage and water network that was built when Queen Victoria was alive. Of course you're going to get Pseudomonas in the water system when tapping into a Victorian network.

Obviously hospitals aren't like normal buildings where you can close the old one, knock it and build the replacement as normal. So many brainless assholes are involved in building hospitals, much more so than any other type of infrastructure project. The Childrens Hospital in Dublin was the same story. Any foreman in Ireland could have told you it was a pure cnut of a site that would run into overspends. Then Varadker, who wouldn't know which end of a shovel to hold, had the balls to blame the contractors for it.

The problem with the NCH in Dublin is half greasy contractors, half bureaucrats changing specs mid stream.

Another one to add to the list over £1m+ spent and not a shovel in the ground.

Would love to know what the equivalent expenditure on Casement is at this point.
