John Barnes has commended him, said it took great courage to come out and talk about how he felt at the time, didnít have to but felt a need to get it off his chest, I donít think Liam has taken ( ;) ) leave of his senses,  heís done/thought about something 30 plus years ago, baring syferus everyone has done said or laughed at something we wouldnít do today.

US Senate approves anti-BDS bill, slowdown of Syria withdrawal

Quote
Washington, DC - The US Senate has passed legislation defining United States security policy in the Middle East, introducing a measure that would allow state and local governments to sanction those who support boycotts, divesture and sanctions against Israel...

...The legislation, which consolidated four bills that did not make it to Congress last year, drew controversy in the Senate and opposition from a number of senators because of added language authorising state and local governments to terminate contracts with US citizens who support the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The anti-BDS measure "is designed to see that the BDS activity is tamped down and that it is not appropriate to use against our friend, Israel", Risch said.

ACLU is already taking at least one case against such laws at the state level.  I assume they'll take on this too, as it's in obvious breach of the first amendment.

The show "Abducted in Plain Sight" on Netflix is wall to wall WTF material. In fact it was so much WTF that i cant believe it. Those parents have to have been complicit surely. Waited 5 days to report their child missing. Both had affairs with the man and even let him sleep in their child's bed 4 nights a week, after the 1st f*ckin abduction.

I wasn't even tempted to see how awful it was.  Why did they do a second series?

Anyhow back to the WTF, this wasn't a good first date

What about the neighbour refusing to bring her home unless the parents agreed to let him marry their 12 year old daughter in Mexico.
Strange strange family. I'd check their hard drives.

How can a sane person vote for a cnut like this?

To be fair heís objecting on the grounds that the proposal has not been debated long enough. While it may be a bit pendantic itís not as reprehensible as objecting to the actual proposal.

All heís asking really is that the subject is debated and considered in more depth. Itís not a request that would be difficult to oblige..

Chope has form in the Commons regularly blocking Private Members bills supposedly on a point of principle to parliamentary procedure. However it should hardly be a shock to realise that he doesn't practice what he preaches as he has logged numerous PM bills himself and supported those of a few fellow "friends".

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/15526050.amp/

Also, from the House of Commons procedures regarding Private members bills...

Quote
At 2.30 pm on a Friday the Clerk reads out the titles of bills which are on the Order  Paper, in the order in which they have been put down for that day. If any Member  shouts object when the title of a bill is read then no further progress is made. It is,  therefore, only non-controversial bills that are likely to get through without debate. If the bill is objected to, the Member in charge of the bill, or another member on their behalf, may nominate another Friday and seek to persuade those who objected not to repeat their action. It is, however, often a Government Whip who will shout object. If this is the case, unless the sponsoring Member can reach an accommodation with the Government, it is unlikely the bill will make further progress. The Government may  have any number of reasons for objecting to the passage of a bill. For example, it may disagree with its objectives or it may be intending to introduce similar legislation itself or at least to look into the practicalities of doing so.

If no new day is nominated, the bill is regarded as dropped but there is no finality in this, since the bill can be ďrevivedĒ (have another day appointed subsequently). If no member shouts ďobjectĒ, however, the bill will proceed to its committee stage.

https://www.parliament.uk/documents/commons-information-office/l02.pdf (page 6)

So essentially if just one MP shouts "object" they can kill such a bill at the second reading dead and have no effective chance for it to be revived in the term of that parliament, nor even allow for any debate on the matter. If you want a discussion on it, you don't make an objection at that point.

Another thing is that his own party whips were telling him not to object to the second reading on this PM bill on FGM as the government were supporting it and promised it would be subject to effective scrutiny during its passage! The reason they approached him is because he has form in this area. He's also killed private members bills in the past by objecting to bills on the following matters..

* LGBT rights (YMMV)
* A ban on "revenge" evections of tenants
* Banning "upskirt" photos
* Exemptions to hospital car park charges for carers
* Investigating bullying claims into John Bercow (HoC speaker)
* Returning looted art to descendents of Holocaust victims

...among others. At least he'd be morally consistent if he objected to every PM bill when he's present and not put forward any himself. But he doesn't. Apparently he has very few friends in the Conservative party itself in Westminster, let alone among any other MPs. In usual circumstances Chope would be facing having the whip withdrawn from him, but these are extraordinary times in British political circles and Theresa May won't want one less MP on her side - even one that she gave a knighthood to last year!

To sum it up, Chope uses an inconsistent belief of parliamentary principle to try and hide the fact that he's just really a Catch U Next Tuesday. It's folks like him that make lots of people fed up with the general political process.

Chope has a safe tory seat in Christchurch, Dorset. He got 70% of the vote at the last election 50% ahead of labour. There is no chance of him losing that seat so he just abuses his power to block good causes.
