Never heard that one before. The auld crumb rubber pitches are great, they avoid those difficulties.

yeah, the idea was that people walking over the bridge at o'connell st could see it in the water. i kid you not..

It didn't last till the millenium though if I remember correctly, had to be taking out a good while before hand.
It was hard to see it at times, your view of it might be obscured by a shopping trolley floating over it..
