Thanks for the explainer. Really needed that one. Would have been at a complete loss otherwise.

Got me 19 points this week

Oh, I think I do. I've been watching American football since the 80s on channel 4, so I'm familiar with the nuances of the game at this stage. I've been to quite a few Eagles games over the years.

Smyth seems to have a big leg though I see some at home in the media getting carried away by the 3 year contract.

It doesent really mean anything in the NFL, especially for a kicker - they are on a very short leash with teams. A bad few games and they get cut, much more expendable than other positions.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

What sort of money would you be chatting?  If he could get a year or two out of it would he earn a million sterling?  Back for down then to win an all ireland

I really admire your optimism!

If he's the starter for the next two seasons he'd clear a million sterling easily. Rookie minimum for a K is 840k USD a year. If he gets to the next contract is where he could make serious money, relatively speaking. You'd be talking a couple of million a year at least, bit of a signing bonus and, crucially, some of it guaranteed.

A good article I read a few weeks ago about how kicking is changing, international element etc
