Why would you want to redo a masterpiece like The Naked Gun??

Although in fairness, I could see Neeson deadpanning some ludicrously stupid lines.

Prior to Airplane, Nielsen himself was a serious, dramatic actor, more known for narrating documentaries.

George Kennedy didn't have much of a comedy background before Naked Gun either.

I believe it's more of a sequel than a remake, but I do get your point. The Naked Gun films, or Airplane etc, fall in to category of films that likely could not be made today.  I suspect this new one will fall short in comparison.

They can't come up with anything original. Looks awful in the trailer.

No way would they get away with the same type of film today sadly.
Too much political correctness imo.
I think it will be a poor effort at a sequel, but 100% I'm going to see it.

Can't wait to see it. Seth McFarlane not exactly known for holding back with Family Guy or American Dad so I don't see why it would be PC in any way. It could very much go the other way.

Not sure what exactly was un-PC about the Naked Gun movies. I watched the first one recently with my 13 year old son without any concern.

On the other hand, watched Crocodile Dundee with both kids, including my ten year old daughter, and the scene in the bar with the transwoman getting humiliated was definitely an uncomfortable, dated part I fast forwarded.

Maybe I'd have to rewatch them again but it takes very little to offend people these days.

MacFarlane certainly doesn't hold back. Unfortunately he's also just not very funny.

As a matter of interest what was your kid's reaction? I've watched naked gun, top secret, king pin, dumb and dumber, something about Mary and airplane with my teenish kids over the last year with varying reactions!
They all have pieces that haven't aged well, dumb and dumber was a definite hit, airplane too (after they realised it wasn't a disaster movie - took a while), but they struggled with the rest tbh, they really couldn't comprehend why my wife and I were in stitches half the time throughout something about Mary and top secret really ain't great on rewatching!

The eldest cub and his mates went. He said it was good but didn't think as good as the hype.

Blowitupref

Mel Brooks 98 years old now.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

screenexile

He does a particular deadpan comedy in certain shows I just don't see how that would track to being a comedy lead like Nielsen was...

The Life's too short bit is funny!

Decent film, nothing spectacular but I enjoyed it.
