watched a film called The First Grader last night.  At first i thought wtf am i watching but as it went on the film turned into a powerful and moving story.  The true story of Kimani Maruge. well worth a watch.

Archie Mitchell

Watched a good few films over the holidays

Warrior - Fantastic film, not just the usual fighter type film, has something else to it. 9/10
The Lincoln Lawyer - Surprised how good it was. 8/10
Eastern Promises - Decent show. 7.5/10
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Brilliant film. Graphics superb and Andy Serkis was brilliant as Caesar. 8.5/10

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo- excellent.

Thought Rooney Mara did an even better job than Noomi Rapace in the Swedish version. She made Salander seem child-like at times without compromising either the toughness or the matter of fact craziness of the character.

Tony Baloney

Over the holidays:

Super 8 - liked it (8/10)
Iron Man 2 - much better than I thought (8.5/10)
Midnight in Paris - interesting flick (8/10)
Hangover 2 - rehash of the first unsurprisingly but enjoyable enough (7/10)
Inbetweeners Movie - funny in some parts, dragged in others but the funny parts made up for it (8.5/10)

Canalman

From what I saw over the Christmas

The Inbetweeners................ Not too impressed tbh and I am a fan of the series.

Devil's Double.............. watchable.

The Kill List................... Very odd film. Not really sure what to make of it. Some nasty violence in it. Good or Bad? ............decide for yourself as I'm not sure.

Saw Sherlock Holmes last night and was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than the last one. Very slick and fast moving but very enjoyable. 7/10 I reckon.

Cow boys and Aliens!  What was i thinking :-[ :o.  Avoid it like the clap.  The clue was in the name

Dinny Breen

Watched Winter's Bone the other night. Slow paced but haunting. Some serious performances but the Uncle Teardrop was fantastic. One for fans of subtle intelligent movies 8/10.

The latest mission impossible movie is very entertaining imho. 8 out of 10.

Watched:

* Defiance - decent enough show.

* Star Trek - really enjoyed it, had never watched any previous episode or film before plus Zoe Saldana is class.

* Cowboys and Aliens - pretty poor.

* Watched Drive again, unbelievable.  Have to buy the Soundtrack, be the first one I have bought since Bad Boys.

Have Warrior in the house to watch tonight, looking forward to it.  Also taped Revolutionary Road, anyone seen it?

Good old fashioned leave your brain at the door stuff.

Goats Do Shave

Enjoyed the Adjustment Bureau over the weekend. - 7/10

Seen Bronson also - it's bukking mental!! - I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I enjoyed it. Put me in the notion to watch Sexy Beast again.

Quite enjoyed the Town over Crimbo hols too - another 7/10.

Warrior was very good but I was a bit disappointed in the ending, which was predictable.

I will admit it was watchable, but afterwards I thought I never watch it again.  If you think that was good you should watch Pitch Black.  Better show than Alien IMO

Seen A Lonely Place To Die, decent show, bit predictable with the no signal on the cell phones and the other cliches.  Based in the highlands in Scotland, fantastic scenery in the film and a nice soundtrack.
