Dida may have been a clown but yon clown that ran on and tipped him should be tarred and feathered. What the hell was he thinking...don't be surprised if Cetlic have a few closed door games now or even deducted points. These UEFA fools love putting the boot into British clubs.

It may not be so funny tomorrow.
Just once that's clear
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

DIDA FACING UEFA ACTION

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against AC Milan and goalkeeper Dida over the incident that marred their Champions League clash at Celtic last week.

The Brazilian was carried off on a stretcher after an incident involving a Celtic fan who ran on to the pitch following Scott McDonald's injury-time winner.

The case against Milan and the player will be heard on Thursday by UEFA's disciplinary committee, who will also make a decision on charges against Celtic on the same day.

The charges against player and club relate to UEFA rules under which "member associations, clubs, as well as their players, officials and members, shall conduct themselves according to the principles of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship".

Dida appeared to be slapped on the shoulder and initially gave chase to the fan, before falling to the ground.

He was then carried off on a stretcher while holding an ice pack to his face, before being replaced by Zeljko Kalac for the dying stages of Milan's 2-1 defeat.

The fan, 27-year-old Robert McHendry, escaped back into the crowd but he handed himself in to police the following day and admitted a breach of the peace in court last week.

UEFA announced then they had opened disciplinary proceedings against Celtic on charges of lack of organisation and improper conduct of supporters.

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has already admitted Dida's actions were a "mistake", and the European champions accepted the defeat.

Ancelotti said: "During the years, Dida has shown great sportsmanship and fairness - he was also hit by flares and he got up.

"The other night was a mistake. I don't know why he did it, but I think that the issue must be closed for all the demonstration of professionalism he gave through the years.

"I think that he made a mistake, but that's all.

"The fact that he came off was an evaluation which the doctor made, who did not know the extent of the damage and preferred to avoid any eventual risks."

Dida returned to action yesterday, on his 34th birthday, as Milan won 5-1 at Lazio in Serie A.

Celtic have banned McHendry and condemned his actions, but chairman Brian Quinn criticised Dida's actions in the aftermath of the game.

Quinn said: "I'm making no excuses for the behaviour, and the fan behaved disgracefully. But the contact made with the goalkeeper was minimal, absolutely minimal.

"The antics of the goalkeeper have to be taken into account as well.

"He took a couple of steps after the fan and then obviously made this decision that he should go to ground.

"Unless I missed something, he was carried off on a stretcher for what seemed to be the lightest tap you can imagine."

Saw the video last night. Quite unbelievable, but I think I know what is wrong. Dida is suffering from depression. Why? Well, the Dodo is dead, and Di is dead, and Dodi is dead. So now Dida is expecting the worst.

Wish I could think of the name of the comedian you stole that from. You missed on though, they put in Dando as well.

Is that 2 european games or domestic games? Celtic appear to have got off lightly.

new devil

European games.... yea think Celtic will be happy with that, its only a 15k fine with the other 15 held off for 2 years as long as they don't re offend

The Real Laoislad

Celtic should have been made play a match in a empty stadium im my opinion,That fan could have had a knife or anything,It was poor stewarding and i think they are getting off lightly 25,000 is nothing to a big club like Celtic

Was sent this message the other day (a bit late recounting it now but anyway)

Dida's case is to be heard tomorrow and it is rumoured he will get a slap on the wrist.  The emergency services are on stand-by.

all ifs and buts whereas everyone knows celtics record regarding their supporters is impecable. the club should not be accountable for one idiot and i would be in favour of making that idiot pay the fine as well

Doesn't matter Celtics record,They should be punished more severely in my opinion,And yes before anyone posts it i would say exactly the same if it was Liverpool

Square Ball

Thought Celtic were lucky to escape with the small fine, Dida deserved a few more games than what he got, mind you one of the funniest things I have ever seen at a football match!!
Hospitals are not equipped to treat stupid

In terms of fines etc that can be handed  out by UEFA, Celtic can find themselves to be very lucky and I think most Celtic fans are actually shocked that it is  only £25,000 suspended over two years(i agree that the culprit should be made to pay the initial payment of £12,500 for his prancing about).

Celtic's recent reputation though has been taken into account (100,000+ that was meant to have travelled to Seville in 2003 without a hint of bother resulting in the UEFA and FIFA fair play awards).  Also the actions of the stewards on the night of the Milan game cannot be faulted.  They in fact prevented a disaster from happening which has hardly been touched on.  After McDonald scored the winner, and foolishly ran towards the corner flag, there was such a surge of supporters coming down from the stand to greet him that, not only did the sponsor boards fall over, but people were falling and getting crushed, due to the those behind.  Quite a few ended up on the ground with a least a few hundred folk on top of them.  There was at least two that had to be carried away.  The came from all round the ground to help those out and prevent the crowd from spilling even more onto the playing field.

Even bigger culprits that night has once again to be the Scottish media where there were calls for Celtic to be kicked out of Champions League etc..
