Nice that RTE are giving us a look at Barca tonight instead of showing Liverpool's nothing game.

Did you not see enough of them last May ?

A Champions League jibe Minder?

Really?

Really.

How much do Kiev have to win by tonight to overtake Barcelona? The RTE lads are going with 3 goals, but it wouldn't be unlike them to talk shite (Dunphy has already stated that Pique was at United on loan). Looking at the table, a 2 goal win for Kiev would leave both teams with a goal difference of +1 and with the same head to head, but Kiev would have more goals scored.

If Kiev go 2 nil up during the game then it's even steven.

after that afaik, play off rules apply with away goals counting extra.

Just found this on the UEFA website. Looks like a 2-0 win will be enough for Kiev because of (e), but 3-1, 4-2, etc., wouldn't because of (C).

If two or more teams are level on points they are split by

(a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question
(b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question
(c) higher number of goals scored away from home the group matches played among the teams in question
(d) superior goal difference from all matches played
(e) higher number of goals scored

They said on Sky Sports there that Kiev need to win 3-0 and they are through.

Phil Thompson et al. wouldn't be the most reliable either.

At the minute, Barca and Kiev are both going through as Inter are drawing. If Inter win, that will put them on 9, with Barca on 8 and Kiev on 8. As Barca beat Kiev 2-0, Kiev need to match that result to bring it to goal difference, where Barca will go through. If Kiev win 3-0, then goal difference is irrelevant as they have done better than Barca over the 2 games.

No they won't, they'll both have goal differences of +1 at that stage.

Well, if it was 3-0, Kiev would have went through, like I said at the start.

But as you say completly irrelevant now as Barca equalised and Inter 1-0 up. Unless Kiev score another 3.

This game is just relentless overwhelming domination by Barca.
Hard to see any team getting close to them, possibly Chelsea would have a chance on a good day.

Anyone see Messi's hat-trick v Valencia at the weekend?

No harm to Rooney (who is in sublime form at the minute) but surely Messi is still the best player in the world at the minute.

i Saw this Hat trick live on TV one of the best i've seen!

the only thing Messi has to do is perform like maradonna did at a World cup then he'll be one of the greatest players of all time
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Only seen that hat trick there now!

that man has the talent to be the best player of this century !

Unreal. Clearly the best player in the world and quite a bit ahead of the rest.
