tyrone and sligo looked so poor today it defies logic, imo their victims of the long lay-of since the provincial finals or at least thats a large part of it. kerrys turn next week to see if we can still play football after 6 weeks. feel esp. sorry for tyrone fans tonight...

sureeeeeeeeeeeeee!! ;D ;D
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Tyrone were second best for most of the day and in truth should have been blown out by halftime.

They lacked the class that O'Neill would have added and they had the look of a team that has lost the hunger and seemed to accept that it was not going to be their day halfway through the second half.

Meath and Cork will be a dirty match and meath today were their usual cynical selves. Cork won't take any guff from them. Cork to win that fight.
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.

a neil gael

Mulligan was terrible today aside from the goal never seen him kick so many wides.  Whats up way Sean Cavanagh, is it not possible for him to pass the ball?  I knew it wasnt gona be tyrones day from the amount of balls tyrone kicked to Meath players.  Iv rarely seen Tyrone do this so much in recent years.  On the plus side as a Derry man great to see Derry still in the competition with Tyrone out.lol

INDIANA

cork couldn't beat themselves out of a paper bag based on today.

Face facts lads, its the end of the road for tyrone, rebuild and pray you can return.Monaghan, derry and donegal will be the new faces with armagh and tyrone sitting watching for a while.Meath beat dublin the first day if you are to be fair, dublin are a going to find it hard to top derry, great game in store though I would like to see them lose to kerry in as semi.
All in all changing of the guard and kerry will find a monaghan full of fire hard to stop.
Mickey harte should move aside because he has had enough success and neither laois nor tyrone are exactly top shelf teams.

So how good are Monaghan?  Ran this Tyrone team to two points...does that make them contenders?  They certainly have nothing to lose against Kerry Mike's Yerra's.

Getting harder to figure this championship out.  The winner of Dublin/Derry must have a great chance.  Meath better than Cork...if the Royals get the Dubs again they will have no fear of them.  Kerry/Dublin semi-final could be a cracker.  Kerry v Cork or Meath in the final?

With lots of looking ahead possible by all teams, except Derry...will the Oak Leafers be most focused on the Dublin game...that might just be enough to get them home that day.

After all that...what are the bookies odds for the champioship after today?

Ladbrokes:

Kerry  11/10
Cork  4/1
Meath  4/1
Dublin  9/2
Derry  14/1
Monaghan  28/1

Boylesports:

Kerry  6/4
Dublin  7/2
Cork  4/1
Meath  4/1
Derry  20/1
Monaghan  25/1

Cork hardly deserving their 4/1!

Tyrone were finally caught out by the injuries to their main men. The nail in the coffin was Dooher not being fit - forget about Cavanagh, Dooher is the man that makes Tyrone tick. Meath were very impressive. Well organised, hungry and play an effective, simple game. They know what they are about and look a good team. With more clinical finishing from relatively easy chances they would have won comfortably. Nobody will fancy meeting them now. Their older heads of Moyles, Geraghty and Fay were magnificant today.  For the first time in a long time Fay looked again like the player he was 96-2001.

What now for Tyrone?  Obviously they need to pray that their key men get back to their old selves next year. They have talent coming through but the likes of O'Neill, McGuigan and Dooher are hard men to replace.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Main Street

Meath deserved it, despite their best effort to keep Tyrone in with a sniff. Should have had it wrapped up by HT.
Based on Tyrone's performance against Monaghan I thought that all they needed was a fit Stephen O'Neill. They had enough fire and midfield possesion to win that game today. That decision to kick for a point with Tyrone's last chance encapsulated a hair pulling day for Tyrone's fans.

All in all, far too many wides to call it a great game.

Sure why wouldn't Kerry be the favourites, when they get such an easy passage year after year after year.  It is time to seperate the 'loaded' provincial championships from the race for Sam.  A league based Championship is required urgently, dare I draw comparisons between the Champions league structure and the All Ireland format.

Scrap the league as we know it today, run the provincial championships as a stand alone entity, and run the championship as an open format, where Kerry can travel to Armagh in their first game and vice versa, and Tyrone can travel to the likes of Cork or Galway.

Once again, being provincial Champions has been shown to be detrimental based on the evidence of today's quarter finals.

HowdyDoody

tyrone like mayo this year just to many injuries..end of story

INDIANA

yet tyrone won themidfield second half battle 20 to 5 so that blows that theory out. tyrone had enough chances in the last 15 to draw the game after meath squandered some gilt edged chances. meath deserved it though- tyrone ran out of players this year. not only did they lose mc guigan an o neill they also lost their replacements tommy mc guigan and naill gormley. and dooher to boot. that's their entire forward line with the exception of mullligan who had a stinker of a season and looked overweight.

Carmen Stateside

they started to win mid field far to late! the harm had been down in the first half, our corner backs looked great going forward but when it came to the defending they were roasted from the word go.  In fairness their cause wasnt helped by the non appearence of Tyrones midfield! What a performance from Darren Fay aswell! :o Fair play to Meath it will take a good side to stop them.

oakleaf stateside

tyrone were out powered the day in all parts of the field. dont think meath have it in them
