Is it just me or is global warming a lot of bollocks?

The rules might soon be changed to stop you saying the likes of that.

Rome has never seen snow in 26 years - global warming ?

Tsk, tsk, orangeman, Rome is not the globe (any more).

The earth's whole climate is in ructions, one of the side-effects of which will be cold Siberian air over Europe -- regional weather, not global climate!

Next you'll be telling us that there's nothing warm about −80 °C in Anarctica!  :P

For his next trick he's going to claim that the sun doesn't exist because it disappears at night.

True, except that all of our weather is strongly influenced by the jet stream. Our weather forecasters here rarely mention it, but the weather channel (now there is a channel) in the States always start by pointing out where it is.

And... the Gulf Stream!  ;)

We'll know all about about icy waters around our shores when we've buggered up the Gulf Stream.

The Gulf Stream is fairly constant, the jet dream is anything but. My guess on the main difference between the two is that the Gulf Stream would be more influential on climate, while the jet stream directly affects our weather.

Do we know what affects the Jet stream. It is starting to get some mention on the news as it sitting south of the British Isles and giving us this unsettled weather?

We are destined to extinguish ourselves by one means or another given time. The sad thing is that we will probably take down every other mamal along with us.
Although capable of greatness, in the round we are a pretty disgusting creature. The Universe wil roll on without us and there'll be no one to lament our passing.

Is there still a hole in the ozone layer?  Never hear tell of it anymore and they never used to shut up about it!

Ive been using roll on deodorant since 96 over the head of it!  ::)

Heard that, wherever the 'British Isles' are!  :P ;)

The atmosphere is getting warmer all the time (and the theory that it's due to solar activity is bollox, since if it were due to solar activity, or relative lack thereof, we should actually be getting cooler, not warmer), and a warmer atmosphere will hold more moisture, and that increased volume of moisture will have to come down sooner or later, and heavier.

They're rather reluctant to pin climate change on the Jet Stream's partial failure (for us), for fear that the usual hysterical sceptics will scream and stamp their feet, as is their custom.

Thanks to your conscientious switch to roll-on (along with most of the rest of the world), the ozone hole has partially repaired itself.

The ozone hole isn't the emergency it was, thanks to the Montreal Protocol. Unfortunately, HCFCs, while much less destructive to ozone than CFCs, are very serious greenhouse gases. And air conditioner use is only going up around the globe. A nonozone depleting, non greenhouse alternative are some hydrocarbons, but you get the small issue of flammability with those!

Have you noticed an increase in the number of friends you have since 96?

"One of the feared tipping points of the climate system appears to have been crossed."
Read something recently that there is a Volcano under the Antartic icesheet that is showing signs of activity and is going to cause some serious melting if and when it gets going, not sure if it's the same area as above. We're doomed.

+1 fgm. As a species, we'll get what we deserve. It's just a question of when.

Interesting to read fear on srath ban's well-informed posts on this thread.
