No surprises in any of the games really. Down and Offaly probably still teams to beat.

Shamrock Shore

Down far better than us.....few bad decisions cost us as well as a few soft goals.

But Down well worth their win and will prob reach final handy enough.

Season over. Goodnight all.

Waiting until Monday at 8.30am before having the Quarter final draw why not have it Saturday evening or Sunday?

The draw will involve the Preliminary Quarter-Final winner (Fermanagh) and the three Round 2A winners (Antrim, Laois and Offaly), who will be drawn at home to play against the four Round 3 winners (Sligo, Wexford, Wicklow and Down).

The following fixtures cannot occur: Fermanagh v Wexford, Laois v Wicklow and Offaly v Down

A decent performance from Down, Laverty won't be happy with the amount of wides, particularly in the first half. I thought Murdock, Rooney and Docherty were the standout performers over the 70 mins.

I have to say the stewarding was well organised in Longford. You drive in one gate at the top of the ground, after the game you exit a gate at the bottom of the car park, it brings you straight out onto a road leading to all the motorways, (n5 westport, n4 sligo and n4 dublin).

A lot of wide by both side yesterday. The strong breeze prob a factor. Blowing across the field i think. Down have a lot to do yet, still looking a bit jaded. Another tough game next weekend for them away.
Lovely ground in Longford, another 1 ticked of the list.
Strange they have qtr final next weekend followed the next week with a SF and thrn 3 weeks to final. Do the GAA ever really think ahead.
Agrre on the stupidity of waiting 2 days to do the draw. Who does that benefit?. Saw wexford had to travel to Antrim or Enniskillen. They get 4 days to sort accomodation etc.

RTE want you to turn the dial first thing at the beginning of the week on a Monday morning to their Station and they are hoping that you forget to dial back to the station you were at.

It's one way of getting you to do this. Morning time is predominantly radio time....

When is the Quarter Final draw?
The coverage for this competition is poor.

I would say antrim v wicklow hardest to call. I'd expect fermanagh down and Offaly to win the other ones.

It's not a full conspiracy theory but I think the poor coverage suits a fair few folk in provincal councils who definitely had concerns about the status of the provincial championships and some of the weaker teams basically just going through the motions a bit in the provincial championships while keeping their powder dry for the Tailteann.

I have heard from a friend of mine with close links to one Tailteann team (father of a player) that there were a few eyebrows raised in one county panel as regards some of the selection decisions for the provincial championship around lads fitness. Always tough to know with player's fitness but the squad were definitely wondering if the management were being excessively careful about some injured players during the provincial championship.

On a related note from what I'm hearing, there seems to be a fair bit of support from some of the Tailteann cup squads for a return to the group stages as opposed to the current format. I wouldn't be surprised if managers/players start talkng more publicly about it. A lot saying the higher guaranteed minimum number of games would help attract/retain players to commit to intercounty squads in the weaker counties.

Antrim will win this one at home.

There's no need to have the same system for the TC and Sam.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.
