Cavan won't be fit to keep it kicked out to Derry.

Quote from: cavanmaniac on February 28, 2026, 08:52:07 PMOffaly are more or less gone, and although Cavan's pitifully weak mentality means they'll be hugely uncomfortable as favourites/playing under expectation with something big at stake, we should beat them, although nobody would be surprised if we dropped a bollock, let's be honest. That would leave Kildare needing a win either away to Cork or home to Louth to stay up, and send Cavan down. You can immediately write off the possibility of us doing anything against Derry in our final game, save bowing down meekly and rolling over for a beating. It might be better for us if we did go down? A few more older heads will leave after this season so another Division 2 campaign next year wouldn't be much more fun than this one, and ritual humiliations in the Sam Maguire championship won't do anyone any good either.

Monaghan and maybe Armagh going down from Division 1. Down going up from Divison 3. Tyrone will likely miss out on promotion. It could have a lot of Ulster teams in 27 but Cavan are lucky Kildare are so poor that they could still stay up. Mickey Harte won't want Offaly going winless so wouldn't bank on Cavan beating them.

What were Offaly like v Tyrone?
Would they have any hope v Cavan?

Kildare will lose by 6+ in the last two games. Rumours doing the rounds that Alex Beirne is gone for the rest of the league.

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Offaly were decent against tyrone and probably should have been. ahead at half time.
but they didn't show up in the 2nd half and when tyrone brought on mccurry it just got away from them.
But they had improved a lot from the Derry game I thought, much more direct. But seem very low on confidence.

Tyrone are poor at the minute though, so its hard to be sure.

Offaly won and held onto the ball well in the first half against the wind and got a few nice scores running at Tyrone. Tyrone a bit nervous at the moment and things not happening freely but a lot of young players playing.

Tyrone upped the tempo in the second half and dominated the ball and the kick out and moved it at pace. Cavan would be a better side imo

Even a strongly worded email would be a start.

They'll wrap div 2 up in less than five minutes.

Ah well, that's their good run ended. Doomed to 18 months without a win if turns out like Derry's trip!!

A good run that ended with a bang. looking at the match stats Derry 30 scores from 42 shots and a high volume of shots thanks to winning 20 of Cork's kick outs.

Derry slumber well and throughly over now, last two Ulster titles won and All-Ireland semi-final appearances came from playing their spring football in Division two so I can imagine players, management and supporters will be confident of repeating that this year.

On trips away Donegal are flying out to Portugal on Good Friday, April 3, while Kerry's trip begins three days later.  Whatever about Cork,Derry neither of those are unlikely to allow themselves to collapse after a training weekend away.

Can see Derry hitting 0-40 soon.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

A late response but that was me Weasel. And I did not say that, I was responding to someone who said top 5 in the country, which he isn't

Also said he gets into any team in the country FYI - just not top 5

If we have a look at the national league here, he has 1 score from play last 3 games? 1-4 in total including a 2 pointer across the campaign

The man's a great player and an elite free taker but I don't know what to tell you, best forwards in the game I'd want more from play in this era of space and open attacking football. In my humble opinion

Top 5 in country- whos ahead of him? Cliffords, O'Shea, Con, Morris, Conaty, R O'D, Walsh, McGuigan?
can't really count Rian at the min,

Hard to believe that Tyrone are out of the running with a couple of games to go. Derry and Meath look well placed to go up, with favourable games at home on the last day. Wouldn't be surprised if Tyrone end up winning the last two games to put them in good shape going into Ulster championship.  Big weekend for Cork to see how they respond to the hammering up in Derry.
