Amid all the negativity, though, the only comfort is that maybe Offaly and Louth are slightly worse but they could improve and will be rightly lining us up for two points just as much as we are them.

Having played both Cavan and Louth and seen both first hand. Louth have a little more about them. That doesn't mean Cavan won't or can't beat them. Just an observation. Meath took the foot off the pedal big time against Louth. If Cavan don't give everything they could be gone

Yep, especially after the final quarter on Sunday past, Cavan have surrendered any right to even a modicum of self confidence.
