Monaghan's downfall last year was needlessly overcomplicating scores. Lads in solid positions either incapable of, or unwilling or scared to take them on. Same is happening again tonight. That Bannigan point could have been put over the bar 20 seconds previously from about 25-30 yards out in front of the goals.

Was at a league game in Croke Park between Dublin and Tyrone played around this same weekend in Feb 2017 and in pretty bad weather conditions too. Just looked at the pics on my phone from back then which confirms the much smaller attendance now on TV.

The regression in Dublin is shocking.

Monaghan got zilch from 3 goal chances
MAGA Make Armagh Great Again

twohands!!!

Both sides absolutely butchering multiple goal chances. Someone should tell both sides its not a good idea to blast the ball straight at the keeper.

Monaghan missing easy goal chances

Half time Dublin 0-7 Monaghan 0-7
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

twohands!!!

Neither side making much of a case for the two points in that half. Both pretty dire.

Monaghan 9-7 ahead but for some bad finishes they would be further ahead.

Monaghan 0-12 to 0-8 ahead 48 minutes played.

In three minutes Dublin level it up.

Monaghan three points ahead with 59 minutes played.

Con O'Callaghan two pointer,  then a goal on the turn over. Dublin lead by two points,  63 minutes played

FT Dublin 1-18 Monaghan 0-17
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Probably more a regression to the mean but 10 years ago you'd never think they'd look like this. There wouldn't be many playing today that would have been selected 10 years ago. And I know that's not saying much because of the players they had back then

Can you prove that Armagh is not at the centre of the universe? No? Thought not :-)

Monaghan's good league record against Dublin is over. Were good value for their lead on 61 minutes, Dublin nothing great other than Con O'Callaghan but is he enough to avoid Dublin playing Monaghan in Division 2 in 2027?

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on February 14, 2026, 06:37:22 PMI thought if the keeper touches it that it's only a 1 pointer.

When did they change that rule?

This year

A few keepers don't seem to  be aware of the change either, I noticed.

A few of them  shouting to the  officials they got a hand  to it.
