I understand an older MP in or near Manchester will get parachute into the Lords. He can't lose on the basis 'this will be your new PM' and what constituency doesn't want that?

The funny thing is, Burnham was an MP, from 2001-2017. He wanted the top job & didn't get it, so he decided he would rather be the Mayor of Manchester. Now that there's another slight chance of being top dog cropping up, he wants to be an MP again. What's best for Andy's own career prospects always seems to be the uppermost thing in his mind.

Plus, the electorate went to the polling stations to vote in an MP already, who would then be expected to stand aside, to give Burnham a free run. That's treating the electorate with utter contempt & getting him elected would be by no means certain at present.

It's a bit like Belfast South, where yer woman Little was rejected, as both an MLA & as an MP, by the electorate, but the DUP just shuffled her off to Lagan Valley instead.

Nothing but contempt for the electorate & then they wonder why people don't have any faith in political parties or politicians?
