Need to look at the billionaires paying fuckall tax rather than the ones scrounging benefits. I can guarantee you theres more being lost by the rich not paying than by the poor screwing the system.

You're only half correct.

The only way this can end is a realignment of the housing market so that housing cannot be traded as a commodity.

We have reached a breaking point in the value of working for a living. All caused by the trap whereby man and wife both have to commute and spend 40 hours a week in an office just to earn the right to have a roof over their head.

Can we really blame anyone for thinking there's a better solution whereby they get a roof over their head for not working?
Good point.

its every man and woman for themselves. As you say , if  working your ass off gets you little to no more  advantage than  someone not , then  that's something to consider. All this talk of an honest days work is bullshit if you're  actually worse off.

As you say , if both parents are working theirvasses off  and  it's just about putting a roof over their heads  , you have to wonder , what is the point?

Work colleague's cousin and partner were paying £800 / month in rent. The partner works on off shore oil rigs, is away for 3 weeks at a time. Not married. She is now in social housing as a single parent (angry at herself that they didn't do this year's ago!) . Partner who earns good money is obviously living there OTR. A serious percentage of the Apex / social housing is the same in Derry City (a cousin was a plumbing consultant for Apex until very recently). I'm sure every social housing scheme is similar, campervans, work vans (obviously the single mother's) , high end motors, caravans all parked outside
Modern, easy to heat etc... Just filled the bunker there and got the tank filled with oil, not cheap to heat a 40 year old house!  🙈
I couldn't live like that however, many can

Re free prescriptions, good to finally see more and more health centre's not providing generic drugs via prescription... Will save alot of money

If the billionaires are paying nothing and there are ones screwing the system you and I and everyone else trying to provide for their families get screwed the most.

The billionaires have probably employed 100 or even 1,000's of employees to achieve these billions, good money that goes back into the economy

As for cheap housing, knock yourself out, couldn't pay me to live in some of the shiteholes with all the carnage that goes on around them
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Quote from: JPO on November 05, 2025, 08:54:41 PMThe are going to increase taxes for the working man to help pay for the people who dont work.
The social bill for the UK is £303 billion. That's more than the NHS.
It will have to be cut.

The Labour Party won't have the balls to tackle it.

Utter nonsense.

The billionaires have fucked over their employees with poor working contracts and pay as they have generated billions off their labour.

You make it sound like billionaires have operated as some form of charity giving people very comfortable lives.

Right now billionaires who own insurance companies, supermarkets, private health outlets, energy companies, residential property on a mass scale etc are gouging working people for vital day to day services and resources. You don't think that the obscene profiteering these people make isn't having a detrimental impact on ordinary working people's lives?

The British cheerfully voted Thatcher into power in 1979 & ushered in nearly 50 years of neoliberalism.

They then voted for Brexit 9 years ago. They can hardly absolve themselves from any blame, but in essence they're far too stupid, as an electorate, to consider the consequences of what they're about to do, at the time.

The trouble with the British political classes is that people are coming out of Oxbridge with their wee PPE degrees & they're getting employed as "advisors" within the main political parties, when they actually know feck all about anything, at this stage in their lives. Then they go about securing a safe seat & perpetuate the whole rotten system.

Plus, you can easily end up with a complete lunatic / w**ker like Dominic Cummings, who somehow or another ended up believing that he was singlehandedly running the country.

The British political system is completely fucked & has been, for some time.

I worked up there for 2 years, heading up the payroll team & the team that paid out MLA constituency office operating expenses. So, believe you me, I have seen it all!!

We've all been turned on each other while a select few at the top get more wealthy of the back of this. It's happening on both sides of the Irish Sea. Your woman Mone being a prime example of late, who along with her husband should have been locked up a long time ago.

No-one has ever really given a satisfactory explanation as to why Cameron elevated her to the Lords, in the first place; nor has anyone offered any insight into why she still remains a member.

Exactly. But blame the migrants, those on benefits. Classic distraction. If the avergae person tries not paying any taxes owed to either revenue service and see how that goes.
