Fantasy Football Week 3 - Latest Scores

Hi All,

Hard to believe we are already almost finished week 3 of the new season, the trip to Wembley is looming on the horizon now, hope they don't screw up the ticket situation. Sorry for a lack of updates last week and for a late start today. I was on a weeks holiday, and between nursing an All Ireland weekend Hangover until wednesday, and minding the young fella, the Fantasy League updates suffered. Anyway, here we go for Week 3, with one game left to be played tonight.

Faithful Turfmen (1-1) 97.67 - 85.91 Mayo Mafiosi (1-1)
The Turfmen manager went to bed shortly after midnight with a 30 point lead, and a great shot at going 2-1 to start the season, but a big night from Marion Barber III (RB - DAL) has changed the landscape completely. Barber III had 102 yards rushing, 10 yards receiving and a TD through both avenues for a vital 20.10 points, which has cut the lead to less than 12 with a QB to come tonight as Vince Young (Tennessee) takes the field against the Saints in New Orleans. Dwayne Brown (WR - KC) also contributed handsomely with 12.05 points while Shaun McDonald (WR - DET) with 12.30 points and Jeff King (TE - CAR) with 10.80 points also did the business to leave the Mafiosis very much in striking distance. The Turfmen will rue a couple of things if this decision goes against them. Firstly, leaving the Dallas Defence on the bench in favour of the Bengals D cost 18 points, while there was an 8 point swing in the dying minutes of the Jacksonville - Denver game, as Maurice Jones-Drew coughed up the ball on the one yard line, rather than crossing for a score. The Turfmen had some very good performances however, none better than DeShaun Foster (RB - CAR) who clocked up 122 yards on the ground and a TD, as well as one through the air for 21.25 points. Carson Palmer (QB - CIN) had a mixed night as he passed for 342 yards and a TD, but also gave up 2 INTS for a total of 12.79 points as the Bengals went down against the Seahawks. His QB comrade, Jake Delhomme (CAR) also had a curate's egg of a night, as he threw for 2 TDs, but only had 109 yards for 14.23 points, as he had to leave the field with an elbow injury. Chris Chambers (WR-MIA) added 10.55 points to the cause and was the only other 10+ point man.The Mafiosi will be hopeful tonight.

Curragh Rams (2-0) 84.78 - 39.06 Ardboe Astros (1-1)
The Kildare men march on to a 3-0 start to the season for the first time ever, as both teams have made all their appearences for the week, and they were never really tested in doing so. It was a dismal outing for the Astros, as only Nate Burleson (WR - SEA) with 13.30 points managed to make it past 10 points, and with minus 1 point from the Bills 'D', it was always going to be an uphill struggle. the bad news doesn't end there either, as there seems to be a real danger that Matt Leinhart (QB - ARI) may have lost the starting job back to Kurt Warner in the Desert. The Rams overcame a shocker from their Saint Louis QB, Marc Bulger (minus 3.68 points) as Peyton Manning (QB-IND), without ever hitting the heights, chipped in with 13.46 points. Top performer was Leon Washington (RB - NYJ) with 11 return yards and a TD for 16.45 points, and he was backed up by Manning, and Deoin Branch (WR - SEA, 77 yards, 1 TD, 12.85 points), Adam Vinatieri (K-IND, 12 points) and the New England defence (13 points). All in all a very solid and satisfactory start to the 2007 season for the Rams.

Hegans Helmets (1-1) 98.63 - 60.71 shane oneills (1-1)
With all bar 1 of the oneills already having played, it looks as if the fully utilised Helmets have done enough here to push themselves on to 2-1 for the season, as they hold a 38 point lead heading into Monday night's game. The helmets had solid enough scoring throughout the active roster, but can really look to performances from Tony Romo (QB - DAL) and Jerious Norwood (RB - ATL) as the difference makers at the moment. Romo threw 2 TDs off 329 yards with one pick for a total of 20.58 points, while Norwood amassed 145 return yards, to go with 32 rushing and 34 receiving, to give him a total of 14.05 points. The oneills countered with 12.65 points from Braylon Edwards (WR-CLE) and 12.10 points from Greg Jennings (WR-GB) but a lack of strong scoring from other quarters, epitomised by a return of minus 1 from the Rams Kicker, Jeff Wilkins, has put them in a real bind in this tie. Brandon Jones (WR - TEN) is in action tonight, but 38 points should be way beyond his capabilities.

Crossmaglen Hitmen (1-1) 103.37 - 110.21 Ballyhaise Broncos (0-2)
Another nailbiter comes down to the wire tonight, and again the advantage may just be with the chasing team. The Broncos have set a very good target, with all their players having played, but the Hitmen have 2 in reserve for tonight's game, and only a 6+ point deficit. The Broncos can thank a career night from Eagles Wide Receiver Kevin Curtis, as he made hay against a feeble Lion's Defence to the tune of 221 yards receiving, with 3 TD scores for a massive 43.55 points from the WR position, a huge night indeed. Curtis had good support from Padraig Harrington's cousin, Joey, QB of the Atlanta Falcons, who fired 2 TD passes on 361 yards passing for 23.42 points. John Kasay, the Panthers Kicker added a further 11 points to the cause for the Broncos and rounded out their big scorers. For the Hitmen, there were a lot of big performances, as people like Jon Kitna (QB - DET, 446 yards, 2 TD, 23.97 points), Wes Welker (WR - NE, 69 receving yards, 72 return, 10.05 points), Clinton Portis (RB - WAS, 60, 1 TD, 13.85 points), Dallas Clark (TE - IND, 58 yds, 1 TD, 10.90 points), Marshawn Lynch (RB - BUF, 74 yds, 1 TD, 11 points), Neil Rackers (K-ARI, 12.5 points) and the Vikings Defence, with 10 points, all had productive nights. So as we head into tonights game, the Broncos must look on as Eric Moulds (WR- TEN) and Devery Henderson (WR - NO) attempt to claim the 7 points needed.

Lurgan Langers (1-1) 83.00 - 133.83 Bet with Paddy Power(2-0)
Yet another strong showing from the unbeaten bookie, as the Power squad pile up another 100+ performance, leaving the langers , on a respectable 83, trailing helplessly in their wake. Again, consistent big scoring from top to bottom is the key for Bet with Paddy Power, but the headline grabber has to be Miami Running BAck, Ronnie Brown. 112 yards on the ground with 2 TDS, allied with a further 99 through the air with another TD, and a 2pt Conversion thrown in for good measure all stacked up for a great total of 35.55 points. Brown was not carrying the can on his own however as the Steelers 'D' added 22 points, while Trent Green (QB - MIA, 318, 1 TD, 14.36 pts), Terrell Owens (WR - DAL, 145 yds, 13.25 points), Plexico Burress (WR-NYG, 86 yds, 1 TD, 13.30 points) and LaMont Jordan (RB - OAK, 121 yds, 1 TD, 17.15 points) all stood up to be counted. The Langers were not nearly as heavy or balanced in the big scoring, but Matt Hesselbeck (QB - SEA, 248 yds, 3 TDs, 18.91 points), Alge Crumpler (TE - ATL, 63 yds, 1 TD, 12.15 points) and the Jets Defence with 10 points did their best. Tennessee DB Michael Wadell is due to go for the Langers tonight, but he is NA for the game, and in any case 50 points would be a lot of interceptions and tackles.

Red Hand Helmets (2-0) 107.62 - 131.59 Mayo Warriors (0-2)
A big win here for the Warriors in another battle of ton-up teams, as they take a 24 point lead into tonights game, where they have 1 player left to appear against the all used Helmets. The hitherto winless Warriors can thank great scoring from the first 3 names on their teamsheet for ending the Helmets unbeaten start to the season, as Donovan McNabb (QB - PHI, 381, 4 TDs, 33.97 pts), Tom Brady (QB - NE, 311, 4 TDs, 32.32 pts) and Jerome Mathis (WR - HOU, 233 return yards, 1 TD, 29.90 points) all contributed hugely. Indeed they were the only 3 players to top 10 points, but when you do so by such a margin in each case, you can afford a little less production from the rest of the team. The Red Hand Helmets, ironically, had more balanced scoring but couldn't quite reach the heights set by McNabb, Brady and Mathis. Cleveland QB Derek Anderson had a nice night with 248 yards, 1 TD and 1 rushing TD for 13.56 points, while Detroit Wideout Roy Williams had another big game with 204 yards and a TD for 29.70 points. Also topping the 10 point mark were Brandon Marshall (WR - DEN, 133 yards, 12.15 points) and John Carney (K- JAC, 11 points) but it was just not enough to fire the Helmets to victory.

Craigyhill Terrors (2-0) 75.27 - 113.78 O'Neill's Chargers (1-1)
Another unbeaten start seems set to come to a shuddering halt tonight as with 1 player each left to play, the Chargers hold a 38 point lead over the Terrors, and seem set fair to improve to 2-1 on the season. A vintage night from Brett Favre (QB - GB) helped enourmously as the Green Bay signal caller rolled back the years, throwing for 369 yards and 3 TDs, the last of which tied Dan Marino's all time record for TD passes, for 29.43 points. Favre had help from T.J. Houshmandzadeh (WR - CIN, 141 yds, 1 TD, 19.70 pts), Steven Jackson (RB - STL, 115 yards, 10.65 points), Jason Witten (TE - DAL, 90 yds, 1 TD, 13.50 points) and the Seattle Defence with 12 points. The Terrors are probably having conniptions about leaving Philip Rivers (QB - SD) on the bench as his 26.07 points went unclaimed, while the QB position yielded a mere 6.97 points. The Terrors did have good performances from LeDanian Tomlinson (RB - SD, 62 yds, rushing, 33 receiving with a TD, 12.25 points), Adrian Peterson (RB - MIN, 102, 1 TD, 15 points) and Reuben Droughns (RB - NYG, 2 TDs, 16.45 points). Olindo Mare (K-NO) turns out tonight for the Terrors, while Mark Simoneau (DL - NO) is in action for the Chargers.

Sydney's Sailors (0-2) 71.96 - 97.40 Lummox Squad 57 (0-2)
In this battle of two 0-2 teams, it would appear that the Lummox Squad may have just done enough to ensure they get their season up and running as they hold a 26 point advantage heading into the final game of the weekend. The Sailors do have 3 poisitions due to start tonight, but as one of them, Tim Rattay (QB - TEN) is marked as NA, and another is a defensive back (Donnie Hickey, DB - TEN), it would require a huge effort from Marques Colston (WR - NO) to pull back the deficit. Chad Pennington (QB - NYJ) and unheralded Joshua Cribbs (WR - CLE) were the heros for the Lummoxes, as Pennington garnered 20.43 points from 124 yards passing and 2 TDS, while Cribbs demonstrated the value of having a good return man as one of your position players as his 196 return yards and 1 TD gave him 22.65 points. Nobody else troubled the scorers unduly on the Lummox side, which left them a little vulnerable, but as of yet the Sailors have failed to capitalise. 13.15 points from San Diego TE Antonio Gates, combined with 18.05 points from Indianapolis Runner Joseph Addai were positives for the Sailors, but perhaps the biggest plus as the year unfolds will be the fact that Kurt Warner (QB - ARI) got significant game time in his back up role with the Cardinals, amassing 19.16 points with 258 yards and 2 TD throws. His performance was such that the Sailors may just have got a starting QB without having to trade for one. That being said, this weeks tie may just be beyond them, barring a comeback such as that suffered by the same opponents in week 1.

GalwayImpactPlayers (1-1) 61.30 - 131.46 Cleveland Steamers (1-1)
Barring a 70+ point night from Reggie Bush tonight, the Steamers will complete a sound beating of a disappointed ImpactPlayers squad with some heavy scoring from key positions. Charlie Batch (QB - PIT) and Daunte Culpepper (QB - OAK) both more or less had no impact as their teams played on Sunday, but Chad Johnson (WR-CIN, 13.40 points) and especially Anquin Boldin (WR - ARI, 181 yds, 2 TD, 32.05 points) and Brian Westbrook (RB - PHI, 110 rushing, 2 TDs, 111 receiving, 1 TD, 35.55 points) raised the entire squad. Derrick Mason (WR - BAL) also chipped in with 79 yards and a score for 13.95 points. Faced with such a barrage high up the order, the ImpactPlayers wilted, and only the irrepressible Randy Moss (WR - NE, 115, 2 TD, 22.25 points) and Ronald Curry (WR - OAK, 62, 1 TD, 10.60 points) offered much resistance. Severely hampered by no starting QBs, the Impact Players would require very big nights indeed from 2 or 3 players to challenge the sort of scores going around this league, but it is not beyond them. The Steamers will hope that Culpepper's appearence in place of Josh McCown will be a sign of things to come, as they too struggle to amass points from the QB spot.

L'Esprit de Biff (2-0) 106.28 - 77.28 Ruthless Rossies (0-2)
Ho hum. Another win for the Biffs as they steamroll another opponent to move to 3-0 and firmly establish themselves on a sound footing for the league...but wait. Is it as clear cut as it seems? By all appearances a 29 point lead is a strong one heading into the final game of the weekend, and even moreso when you consider the Biffs have Eric Johnson (TE - NO) still to count. In this case though, the Rossies may just have an ace, or two of them, up their sleeve. Roydell Williams (WR - TEN) will not strike fear into the Offalymen's heart, but Drew Brees (QB - NO) and Deuce McAllister (RB - NO) are well capable of putting up a good score between them, and if New Orleans are to beat the Titans, they may have to do exactly that. Thus far, only Balitimore Kicker Matt Stover with 16 points, and the Buccaneers Defence with 17 have done the business for the Rossies, while the Biffs were their usual solid selves via 10+ point performances from David Garrard (QB - JAC, 154 yds, 1 TD, 52 yds rushing, 10.18 points), Donald Driver (WR - GB, 126, 1 TD, 17.30 points), Vincent Jackson (WR - SD, 98, 1 TD, 13.90 points) and the Eagles Defence with 15 points. Is it enough though? The smart money may be on the Biffs, but I think it is far from certain.

Full results tomorrow.

Gabriel, I turned on sports centre and spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with the tv. What was the deal with the uniforms? Was it for charity or something?

Gabriel_Hurl

it was their 1933 throwback uniforms

Puckoon

Jesus who'd have thought colors like that existed in 1933.

Love the helmets and socks. Classy :)

What an awful weekend.  Im dieing without a starting QB, computer wouldnt work properly for the Live Draft and ended up with Michael Vick and Jake Plumber, one retired and one hopfully will be spending time in prision very soon.  Got rid of them and brought in two other non-starters...

Most of those throwback uniforms are rotten, the Steelers one from last weekend was awful as well.

This is where you get the Fantasy version of the African Nations Cup. In the NFL, it is a 17 week regular season, but only 16 matches are played by each team. That means that there is one week off for every team at various points in the season. The bye weeks begin this week (Week 4) and carry on uintil about week 13 I think. If a player on your roster has a 'bye' beside his name, it simply means his team is not in action at all this week, and you'd be better off substituting him if you can.

I'm doing up the final scores at the moment, just waiting for Yahoo to complete, as I noticed a couple of errors on their points from last night.

thanks for that az, allways liked american football but i find i'm watching way more since i joined fantasy football . if im not carefull there could be divorce proceedings issued especially if i watch the 3 matches like i did last sunday ;)

You could be even sadder, like myself. Take a printout of the 'matchup' for this week, and frantically scan through the opposition team everytime a score comes in from around the other games.
