Captain Scarlet

We gifted the Fermanagh goal in one of the very rare stupid moments all game.
Young lads were impressive and there were 4 lads who would be expected to start not togged with injuries.

Fermanagh didn't really have many ideas up top.

Overall both sides went long with kickouts which I like.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

They have to go long with kick outs now, thems the rules

Really. Ha, I needed to do study up more.
We were nearly caught with the 3 up a couple of times, but our defenders copped it.

Think it could be a very tough campaign for Fermanagh this year.
Kildare were by far the better team.
In truth the game was over after the first 20 minutes.
We were totally shell shocked and at times, defensively, we were a shambles .
We struggled around the middle especially when Kildare put the press on our kickout.

Kildare looked a few levels above and will be hard to stop in this division

Next week's game at home to Antrim is a must win .
We lose that and we are in a relegation dog fight
Wanted.  Forwards to take frees.
Not fussy.  Any sort of ability will be considered

Offaly beating Sligo and Antrim beating Clare has probably opened this division up a bit. Kildare beating Fermanagh like that is interesting. Are they that good or are Fermanagh not as good this year. Guess we'll see next weekend.

Harte working his magic already with Offaly. Two surprise results with Antrim winning wide open division as you say.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

SLIGONIAN

Very disappointing start again for us in the league. Kildare at home next doesn't look great for us. I have never been a fan of McEntee having watched the lack of chance's and development of our u20s are getting but more importantly the regression of them within the set up is even more alarming. The county board are in complete denial.

We were 9-6 up today before HT and went 1-15 to 10 pts down so it was some collapse. McEntee is slow to see things in game so not surprised momentum continued in their favor. The kickout strategy which is the main thing we worked on all pre season totally collapsed 2nd half, again not surprising at all.

The only hope is the last few seasons we have performed terribly the 1st day out we react and go on a winning run. Usually its because opposition are poor more than anything but I doubt Kildare are in that category with Calaghan in charge. Markievicz is a fortress for our teams so you'd hope that counts for something the next day but the pressure is on for this year and this management.

There was a little bit of surprise in Offaly at the margin. Our record against Sligo this past decade has been good, but Offaly have had some seasoned players opt out in the last year.
Add to that, some scepticism about how practical the Harte-Kelly management structure would turn out.

Sligo obviously have similar issues with player unavailability and the recent run of Coolera-Strandhill was an issue too.
It might have been the best weekend to play Sligo, as I'd expect them to pick up form again.

Captain Scarlet

I think this trip to Sligo will be the toughest game for us. They will be looking for a reaction and home and away is a big thing in the league.

That being said I was very pleased with how we went and there were lads who would be nailed on starters not togged for various reasons.
Many would argue Kevin Flynn should start, but he only came on. The younger lads will hold the jersey but there is a nice bit of depth now.

Our defence can look a little small but they are clever positionally.

Magpie22

I think he probably should be still involved in the panel however he isnt close to starting. Granted last few years he had been a key player for them but recently has been the worst years for kildare football for aslong as i can remember. Especially baring in mind kildare have good 21/22 yo players coming through, Shane farell for example is def ahead of him as is Hanafin both of which play around the middle. So is there much value even keeping him on the panel. Clearly Brian Flanagans view is no!

Captain Scarlet

Lookit he just wants to put the head down, speak to a tabloid and play for his club...then we will see how it pans out.

There was a bit of chat on the Kildare forum, but he is a very limited footballer who isn't very versatile. He is a runner and as I said there, running one way he is great but his tracking is poor.

There are other lads who are better and who can be coached. Kevin Feely has been on Off the Ball more than once. During the Tailteann's first year he was on RTÉ and he won't be getting the chop.

Team for Sunday is the same bar one change - Ryan Burke in for Harry O'Neill. Ben McCormack and Paddy McDermott back on the bench. No Dan Flynn in the match-day panel.

Armagh18

Seems to me if he was starting in previous years and now isn't even picked for the 65 man training squad its for non football reasons but obviously theres people better placed than me to know that.

Thoughts on the social media stuff? Personally wouldnt bother me at all.
