In relation to the above posts at what stage do you go yes it would be great to have ship building in Belfast but this is a business that is constantly losing money. If it was a private business it would be gone.

They are damned if they don't save it with talk of oh use didn't care about us and doomed if you keep pumping money into a failing venture and accused of wasting taxpayers money to save it.

Surely any money pumped into H & W would be better served going into health, waiting lists, schools, roads, water etc etc?

Which government has been pumping money into Harlands recently? Think they asked for a loan?

I'm pretty sure it is 100% a private business. They have raised money from selling shares and from bank loans. I dont think the banks would give them any more without a guarantor for the loan. They couldnt get a private guarantor so they asked the government, who quite rightly said no. Unless they get a buyer with deep pockets they may well fail.
