Agree. 6 isn't noticeable if a man is moving at speed. It's the 8,10,12 steps that need called.

Am I the only one who likes the tactical battles and constant iteration that comes with modern Gaelic Football?

I do to a certain extent, but Down v Armagh this year in the Ulster Semi Final, was just too much, I've never been as uninterested during a game as I was that day. It was dreadful.

Some people like chess
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

You get bad games too.

I should I mean I really like modern games played between two equally matched teams with something to play for. I don't like a lot of how it's presented. No replays, penalties, no real jeopardy etc.

Pick a different sport lads. The droning on that "the game's gone" is actually the biggest yawn.

When asked about the modern game some years ago Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh answered brilliantly - that every generation have the right to shape our games as they wish.

Tell Jarlath Burns to disband that Committee he set up so.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Have two balls on  the pitch , with two referees

That would sort out   all your blanket defences and  negative tactics

Last two under 16 division 3 games I went to watch my daughter playing in, both opponents played with two sweepers.
The game between the two of them will decide the league winners.

It was woeful to watch. We were awful that day. But Down set up perfectly and with abit more quality up front could have nicked it.

The masters games have been entertaining

And am I not part of the this generation and have I no right to shape the game or do I have to yield to Jim mcguinness and mickey Harte?

DuffleKing

No idea, what age are you?

"This generation" are the players at any given time. How many of those are there currently and how many are complaining?

I don't profess to love the game as a spectacle now more than I did 20 years ago but I love it more from a a strategic perspective than I did.

The levels of skill required to execute attacks under the pressure there is now is criminally undervalued and overlooked.

Exactly. People are "finding another sport".
And while I appreciate that it was a throw away remark, it's a poor one and not the attitude the game needs.
