I was at RE v Naas. Both more or less at full tilt. I agree you cant judge too much off challenge games but both were in semi finals at the time. RE beat them easily and lost to Camross. Naas won their semi by a huge score and went on to claim 7 in a row. They are playing nothing in the Kildare championship...we have to be carefull saying at club level that there is a gap. There is not. County team maybe at the moment but not at club level.
I was also at RE v Doon and RE v Glen Rovers. Both really good games at a very high standard. Problem for RE was that they played some of their best hurling in these games and were flat v Camross.
Ballyfin would have been a decent match for Clane yesterday if you are playing like for like.

I actually didn't say there was a gap!
I said
"Worryingly, there could be a gap with Laois clubs & the top 2 or 3 Kildare clubs soon too"

Naas are absolutely a match for anyone in Laois.
I see Naas improving further.
I don't really see CB or RE improving over next few years.
There is a genuine danger of a couple of Kildare clubs moving away from Laois clubs.

I agree that comparing Clane & Clonad is not like for like.

Quote from: Mad Mentor on November 21, 2025, 08:44:27 PMI think C/B have every chance if they play to the best of their ability. Ballyhale have gone back a long way from when TJ et al were at their best. If they can shackle Eoin Cody it will be a big help. Best of luck to them anyway.
Ballyhale 1-13 CB 1-11

I actually agree. It will take a while for them to achieve the breakthrough, but once they do, they could get on a roll. I think Ballacolla might slip in the next few years, although fair play to them for representing the county so well yesterday.

The Harps again, what is going on in here. Surely a piss take at this stage. I'd love a bit of what ye are on.
