How about even ages
And
You can't play adult until you are over 18 (increased by one year).

Clubs will survive without the 17 year olds.
It's back to even age groups
The step from minor-u20/21 is reduced
Minors can still maintain a full fixtures programme.

I don't think you can change one without the other.

The real town

The thing that stands out to me is a lot of the smaller clubs in laois actually play A championship. Because they are usually amalgamated with 1 or two other clubs and play a good standard of football.would it not be better for them to play another competitive year at minor. They would be physically better off.But when you have a amalgamated team they have a lot more votes than a standalone team when it comes down to that.

Butch Cassidy

Great to see Sean Dempsey back working with the minors, he should have been brought back years ago, need all hands on deck to help the underage get back competitive.

Also great that Laois Gaels are announcing the underage squads, great to see what clubs are represented

The real town

Good to hear Sean Demsepy is back in with laois minors  his knowledge is badly needed.what role he will play in the future is unclear but positive he's back.
Laois badly need to break away from parents coaching there kids.

Blueforever

Can only be good to see Dempsey back be good if some more of ex Laois players got involved at underage

Ogie

20/3/26
U19 Hurling Result

Laois 3-22 Offaly 0-9

Verbal

Great,
Is that like for like do you know?
As in, both Laois & Offaly approaching it in the same way.

Just seen the Laois u20 squad announced. Thoughts on it. A lot of o dempseys lads on it and also seems to be some names missing from the list !

Blueforever

Another hammering for our under 20 i suppose Kelly will be given another 3 years

Laoisman456

Don't know how he got another term after getting knocked out in the group the last 2 years. And getting bet in a quarter final in 2024. They haven't won a competitive game since 9th of April 24. Plenty of other players competing at a high level in club u20 that weren't given a chance!!

SCFC

Crazy that he got another year in charge of them.
I heard of a chap who played to a very high club level last year not getting a call from the management and when his club queried it, they were told they "didn't know" he was underage!

Laoisman456

Crazy stuff. No killeshin players on the panel too after making it to the final as a stand alone club. Some bias within the management whereas o dempseys who Kelly manages has 5 players on the squad as a team who I believe didn't make it to the b final!

I think a couple of Killeshin lads turned down the call up? So I was told anyway.

Eoin Kearns is managing O Dempsey's. Killeshin lads need to go in if they want to play.

Meath, Kildare, Westmeath all have a step on us and that's down to the county board and the clubs. The coaching in our clubs simply isn't good enough. The amount of players arriving to development squads with poor basic skills is behind all of the Leinster counties named above and quite a few others. Have we the stomach to address this or shout into the void in here? I suspect the latter.

Schools coaching, primary and secondary, is the only way this improves and Clubs and County Board are both key to that. There's moves being made but it'll take time and whether it can bridge the gap alone, I would wonder.

Blaming the U20 management is a bit Irish.

Have a cousin down that way involved and apparently there was only one lad asked and he turned it down and I do think management has a part to play in it
