I don't think that's what happened at all. She had to run the race of her life to beat SML and she backed herself and it didn't happen because she'd too much lactate to sustain that pace... You see it happen a lot (e.g. Hodgkinson would have got silver last year but for going for gold etc etc).

SMl is a different league. Bol is fantastic but just wrong time for her or she would clean up. Hodgkinson may or may not be the one to chase in the 800. I think she may be a bit overblown by media but is no doubt fantastic too.
