Quote from: gallsman on February 11, 2026, 10:46:05 PMNo no, I get it. I'm pointing out that lots of posters pushed the "sure didn't the courts give him custody" line.

Yes that's true - but also lots of posters have pushed the "the things he's accused of are so horrendous he must be guilty" line.
Neither are right.
But lots of people, I feel due to their dislike of RG as a character or antics on the pitch, jumped on the chance to find him guilty of the allegations - which is wrong.

I've said it many times, I've no idea on who did what - either does anyone else. But there are a few possible scenarios:
1) Everything happened exaclty as his wife described and RG is guilty but has managed to wrangle his way out of it.
2) Some of what happened is true, some isnt, and there are some kind of extenuating circumstances that none of us know about which mean that when investigated no action was taken.
3) A vindictive ex with addictions has made it all up, with her friend's backing her to get her revenge for losing her kids

Ultimately none of us know, but some people of nailed their colours on option 1 there with no more valid reasoning that someone who decides option 3 is what happened. In my opinion.
The only opinion I have on the whole thing is that given I don't know really what happened, I'll side with the rule of law in terms of the investigations not charging him with anything - so I'd be of the opinion that's where it should have ended. Then it's up to clubs/counties to decide if they want to appoint him, in the same way they appoint any manager.
Burns should never have got involved in the way he did.

100%. Should have been locked a long time ago. Hear say and speculation mixed with a sprinkling of facts.

Mods - can you review this thread and lock it if required?

Much like the Cresswell failings there are countless cases where complaints are made which are totally fabricated. Some have resulted in convictions. So pointing at Cresswell and the like as justification to not place any weight on what's happened ought to result in the same approach to the public allegations made?

Again I'm not suggesting the allegations are fabricated. I do not know. My concern is the failure to follow a process to properly investigate them. This also cuts both ways. I would be equally unhappy had Burns intervened to say RG was entitled to come back without investigation because he wasn't charged. I think basic fairness dictates that neither approach should be used.

Is Banty still helping him keep food on the table?

Should he be starved? Should the children be punished indirectly too as a result?

In the grand scheme GAA is something else, who else would you road, enforcement teams to rid perceived undesirables, by whose measure?
