so who is the second best team in europe then just asking?

Real Madrid.

By a (Country) mile.

After that game tonight, who could argue?

Real Madrid played puke football v barca in the semi final & still got beaten 2-0 at home & yeah not forgotten the 5-0 mauling.

you conviently left out the game in between  ::)

Barca could have won by more tonight if they wanted IMO

2nd leg was irrelevant as Barca had that tie won in the 1st leg & if they wanted they could have beaten Real Madrid by more.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Well said R4life, United were made look average by truly remarkable Barcelona team & on that performance i don't even think the United teams of the 90s would have lived with them.

Will be interesting to see how long this Barcelona dominance lasts.

no whatiffery, no complaints, out played and out classed.... its as simple as that.

best team won, end off

Totally agree, though doesn't take away from another successful season & next year the final is in Munich & that place is already written in their history so who know's? i just know united will have a better chance of winning the Cup if the opposition isn't Barcelona  :P

Edwin van der Sar, who retires this summer: "It was one game too many, I think. It's never nice to lose. They had the better chances but we made one or two mistakes and they punish you. We had to score the first goal and we didn't do that. Of course it's not how I wanted my last game to go, but you can't always choose how football goes."

Happy retirement VDS hopefully United can find a suitable replacement.

Who knows??!! I do!!

United won a poor Premiership and the fact that such a poor team got to the Champions League Final . . . well it just shows how lucky a run English teams get in this competition!! As everyone suspected at the start of the season! An average team!!!

A team the just won the league by 9pts & got to the CL final  "average team" fcuk away!!

They are an average team. Albeit an average team that was good enough to win a very poor Premier League title this season as the stats show. Chelsea went through a huge slump mid-season. Arsenal flattered to deceive as usual. Man City were never contenders really and may never be until they change manager.

It's enormous credit to Ferguson to keep winning silverware like that with a team with so many flaws.

Blowitupref

I wonder were Chelsea classed as average when they won the PL last seaon? it's a alot of media tripe TBH, sure this current United side are not best fergie has assembled however the PL remains one of the top leagues in the World & to win it you have to be more than average!

They are an average side, if those players lined up for say Stoke not a hope in hell they would have won the EPL. Playing for Man United gives them extra belief, not to mention the majority of 50/50 key decisions and are playing under the best manager ever to grace the English game.

If Man United's squad was put up for sale, the top European teams would be in for Vidic and Rooney and eh that's it, even their great hope Hernandez is really nothing more than a Mexican Andy Cole, you'd swear chicharito was spanish for off-side.

Wood for the trees.

That's what the ball they used last night looked like.

Rocky Mc Guigan

United will need a major overhaul in summer-the fact that Barcelona can carry a Mickey Maguire midget lookalike at centre half speaks volumes about United's lack of ability to expose him-it was like a game of backs and forwards

pintsofguinness

They badly need two central midfielders!
Which one of you bitches wants to dance?

How many of Utd's team would honestly get on for Barca??

Vidic & Rooney would start, but who else?

VDS would be a contender, only he is now retired. Evra would be 50/50

Valdes is one of the most underrated keepers in Europe. He's been the best keeper in Spain for a number of years now, including Casillas. There wouldn't be a contest.

You know very well if Arsenal had striker like hernandez to play along side VP they would have done better than their 4th place finsh & as i said already Barca can make anyone look average they are simply that good.

With Arsenal it's in the head, Wenger has a preference for 4-1-3-1-1, Hernandez wouldn't feature as is all round play isn't good enough yet and Arsenal only play long balls against teams that hold a high line and Walcott is playing.

Speaking of Arsenal, if they turned it that performance, 1 shot on target you can just imagine the abuse Wenger and the players would have received but then Arsenal are an easy target..
