Well I personally think the players found guilty of it should have been punished far more severely, especially the England captain.

Agree. I am sure you join me in wondering why some players didn't get banned at all as well!

Well I don't know what the Frimpong thing that you've mentioned was but if you are on about Rio Ferdinand then I think he got the punishment he deserved. It was an insult to Cole that he shouldn't have retweeted and "endorsed". Not the same thing as Suarez/Terry did.

To be honest. That's a load of balls.

Ferdinand got away with this sort of 'banter' before (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2006/oct/02/broadcasting.football), and has got away with it again.

Norf.

The problem with the Rio and Frimpong offences is that under the rules they are two different offences which carry two different range of punishments. Should they be? No, but they are currently so until the FA change this obvious irregularity the players aren't getting away with anything rather they are being dealt with in accordance with the rules. Rules which have been badly thought out by the FA

Apparently Clattenburg's report says he booked Torres for an "exaggerated fall".

I can't believe any referee would be buck stupid enough to make a racist comment especially in the current climate.

Main Street

Don't Chelsea players/club have a proven beyond doubt past record of lying, in order to cast serious and career damaging slurs against top referees?
I would accept the evidence of the referee's assistants in this matter, over and above the Chelsea players. Far worse than cheating, is casting false allegations against a match official. Chelsea fc should face serious sanctions should these allegations prove to be baseless.

nifan

The refs mike should be recorded - in fact i find it incredible that it isnt currently.

ONeill

A Spanish tit. Hard to believe a ref would say that.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Seems fair enough.

Sounds like bullshit to me, how many exaggerated falls would see in a game, nearly every foul that involves a player falling over has that player exaggerating his fall.

Correct. Even non dives have exaggerated falls. Drives me mad. Stevie Starfish Gerrard had it down to a tee for a while there.

Main Street

I assume the expressions of agony and leg clutching are part of the Torres'  'exaggerated fall'.
An attempt to get Evans falsely carded, even red carded?

AZOffaly

I think the problem with Suarez is give a dog a bad name. I reckon he realises that he's not getting legitimate frees now because of his history of diving, and he;s like the boy that cried wolf. I hope he continues to stay up and reverse that perception, but it will take at least until a few TV commentators say something like 'Fair play to Suarez there, he could have gone down but didn't'.

The other lads mentioned have this thing of being honest british pros, who wouldn't stoop to that. It's the other adage, "If you get a name for rising at the crack of dawn, you can stay in bed until noon".

No, feigning injury is a separate offence.

thebigfella

In fairness Torres went down clutching his knee afterwards even though there was no contact on it. If you choose to go down so easily, you risk picking up a booking. Not the cleverest thing to do when you are on a yellow already from the Spanish ****  ;)
