Should the GAA not be closed from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday?

underage club yes, rest no.

Tradition in Derry for years was to play hurling féile Easter Sunday morning, if anyone knows Derry city you will know our obsession with caravans and Donegal. We always had at least 5 lads out Easter Sunday, country teams didnt seen to take Easter hols. Bit much asking seniors even to be rocking boat at home for a game if you have young wains. I always refused to play Easter Sunday because of the family(and i was afraid of the mrs)
Are you still afraid of her?  8)

Does good friday even feel like good friday anymore remember the police used to have to go into pubs  that back in the day when people actually went to pubs on friday afternoons

brokencrossbar1

Good Friday was always great craic in the pubs,  bus loads of Mexicans up as they were still living under the iron fist of a church run government, police let us at it in Cross and the town was bouncing all night!

Play away over the holiday, in fact make a big day of it, make a week of it in fact!

Big loss for tomorrow night.
Fr Brian ruled out
I would think it's the first Fermanagh Ulster Championship game he has missed in a long long while

Pity, he might bring Fermanagh some divine inspiration to beat Tyrone.
Inaugural Football Championship Prediction Winner.

Was the pubs in the north closed to like 5pm or something then had to close again at 11.

I recall when easter Sunday used to host league semi finals back in late 80s early 90s. It may have just been  acoincidence the dates fell that way though.

Can remember going to a league 1/4 final on Easter Sunday 1995 to see Tyrone beat Kerry at Croke Park.

Tyrone also beat Fermanagh at the semi-final stage on Easter Sunday 2003. Again at Croke Park.

I agree though that there shouldn't be club underage on Easter week. My daughter has an underage game on Tuesday ffs, no real thought for families who might want to go away for a day or 2 at the start of next week.

I wouldn't miss out on a holiday just because of an underage game so early in the season.

Loads more games ahead.

Mad to think that parents might freeze their holiday plans around juvenile GAA league games.

Priorities are different for everyone I suppose.

Is that your main meal or just a collation?

Get in the stations of the cross and you're almost there for a plenary indulgence.

Might have to give the graveyard a bit of a visit though.
