Is Roscommon no.13 John Curran from Castlerea a relation of Cake Curran?

We got some hammering tonight from Roscommon. Very poor display
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure.

It was awful to watch from a Sligo perspective, so frustrating and disappointing. The basic skill level was shocking. So many players running into trouble, zero spatial awareness. Roscommon won coasting. When were on top at the end of the half and beginning of second we never even looked like threatening them. Easy scores missed at times. We looked like we had no plan for when we hit there 45, it was over and back with no intent, very few even attempted to break the gainline. So many basic errors. Conditions weren't easy.

I have always said at underage we have to be about 10pts better than the opposition to win in Connacht.

Roscommon's first point about 3 foot inside the arc given as 2pts, then every Roscommon forward allowed to take 10 steps and then every time we run through pulled dragged by Roscommon defenders and no free.

Disappointing end scoreline but when you are being fouled all the time on the run not much you can expect. We made some good forward situations and looked a goal threat at times but were never going to be allowed to win today. Missing Eli rooney and Conor walsh are huge blows in attack too but I am sure Roscommon were missing players too.

Sorry about that.  It's only fair that we should share the points so, if it was entirely such a travesty.  And sure while we're at it, if there's reasonable grounds for cancelling enough scores, we may as well concede.

On a side note,  it's a farcical time to fix a match.  I always liked going to as many minor and u20 games as I could because they're usually open and entertaining win or lose,  but when I can't even make the Hyde coming home from work,  that's a dose.  That said, it's a minor inconvenience for me, but it's very unfair on the squads to be playing in front of not even their full families or friends due to the ridiculous timing.

Then you clearly were not in Markievicz for the smash and grab Sligo conjured up in 2022 against a Roscommon team that totally kicked it away.

And yes Roscommon were missing their captain and best forward who was man of the match in the Connacht final last year.

Based on minor and under 20 results over the last couple years Sligo are firmly back in 4th position again.

Very good high quality game between Galway and Mayo. Seemed like there were very few wides. Went right down to the wire. Mayo being a bit stronger in midfield probably won them a bit more primary possession. The loss to injury of Shay McGlinchey and Harry Keady sorely felt by Galway here. Galway management looked like they were not too happy with some of the ref's decisions during the final 10 minutes or so there. Some head scratching calls. A chance they might meet again.

Half time in this evenings two U17 games.

In Ballina - Mayo 0-7 Leitrim 0-4

In Tuam - Galway 0-6 Roscommon 0-9

Full-time:
Galway 0-12 Roscommon 0-15
Mayo 0-15 Leitrim 0-10

Good result for our cubs, finishing out the game with 14 following a black card.
Just saw a few minutes at the beginning and again at the end, some super fielding on both sides.
