It was a mental thing to say. That's the thing with live TV.

To be fair Carlton cole said something similar about a year ago and got hounded for it so it's a bit thick to then do the same thing. I mean there are a number of alternative words out there to describe something not going well.

He used a word that is in the dictionary and didn't say 'The Holocaust'. But, as said, plenty of more commonly used words or phrases that could have been used, so the woke brigade will be out in full force over this and he'll be lucky if he isn't labelled as an anti-semite and blacklisted.
'To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal, light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.'

And thee was no busier pundit than Shay. Every channel including Sky seemed to have him on. The gigs can end very quickly after an incident.

He says he'll donate his fee.

I wonder how much that would be?

You reckon? Per appearance?

For a 30 mins slot or whatever the timeframe is. That'd be handy money.

Think that show he was on is maybe on for a few hours but still handy money. You'd hope the apology and donation would be enough but who knows.

So very busy with so very little to say. He's a useless pundit.

It was a daft thing to say, he's apologised, end of story. Using whatever storm may be coming (haven't seen much evidence of anything yet) to pretend "ah it wasn't that bad, sure it's a word in the dictionary" is similarly daft. Anyone trying to use it cancel him or scream antisemitism (again, haven't seen evidence of this happening and no, random gobshites on twitter don't count) is daft.

Reminds me of Souness years back talking about Torres "raping" Vidic. Was a stupid thing to say, he apologised, everybody moved on and there was no long term impact.

It is indeed handy money. I heard rte were paying gaa pundits 1000 for the Sunday game so guessed 5 to 10 for bbc football.

These boys were on 6 figure contracts in their day, they wouldn't be getting out of bed for a few hundred quid.

I'd arranged an interview years ago at an engineering firm with whoever, anyways the lady that was the producer said to the manager of the training dept that he'd a good voice

They paid him nearly a grand for doing the talk over on the ad!
