This made me laugh

https://www.ft.com/content/2656945c-8c8b-4919-9f94-85bb25509e2b

Donaldson swats that aside, preferring, with the fluency that won him prizes as a schoolboy debater, to focus on the need to get “solutions to the problems that others have created”.

Can't open that

in the world according to the Unionists, only they are allowed to threaten and blackmail but when Nationalists are perceived to be doing the same, they are said to be mongrels practicing the dark arts.
What happens if there is an election where Sinn Fein  come out first and the UUP come in second, can the DUP in 4th place still scuttle the new Assembly?

This place is completely dysfunctional.
Desperate stuff from unionism altogether.
Last throws of a dying breed.
There shaking the trees and rattling the drums ahead of the next election.
‘Themmuns’ in power will be the war cry.
Basically a sectarian headcount.

When was it ever any different?

You just need to look what happened with BCC swung in a similar manner with no Unionist majority, they threw hissy fits right left and centre but ultimately settled down into the new way of things.

Stormont though to them would be a different matter altogether.

He's being played for a fool IMO.

He stood on the steps of Stormont with Jeffrey, Allister and Billy Hutchinson in all but a DUP party political broadcast professing that the protocol had to go only days after stating there would be no pacts and that he'd be happy with changes being made to the protocol.

If he has a position on anything that different to the DUP and Allister then he needs to grow a set and diverge from them so it'll be interesting to see what they say about the new offers from the EU on the NIP.

Beattie is being slowly swallowed up by the DUP and falling into their trap. The honeymoon period is over for him. He has set out to be a crowd pleaser with a well oiled PR campaign but if you try and stand for absolutely everything then you stand for nothing.

The problem which unionism faces is that they still see themselves as the owners/guardians of this place and although the First Minster position is largely meaningless in terms of powers, they are so insecure that they can't seem to accept democracy should it so transpire. It was the same situation when it came to Brexit and subsequently the protocol where all of the noise has been totally disproportionally around how unionists feel.  If you were an outsider looking in here you would think that they spoke for all of the people as they dominate the airwaves and print media with the amount of noise created. The reality is very different.

Made the mistake of watching some of Nolan last night (wife had it on - always makes me want to emigrate) the nonsense all the unionists are spinning on this is a joke. Was surprised that Nolan was going as hard on the 'nationalists votes don't count if there's more of them'

Im not doubting where unionism is, but we all as republicans and nationalists need to be careful how we tip toe through this over next 10 years, if I was a unionist reading that -"dying breed" would seriously antagonise me, a UI will be no good to any of us with a almost a million angry unionists.

We have the same issue with SF

FBnaS, just a wee heads up - there's a thread here called "American Sports Thread" and I don't think you have tried to turn it a SF bashing thread yet. You're slipping up.
