Quote from: Dunsilly King on May 20, 2026, 01:15:41 PMWent to Bellaghy on Sunday for the launch of the book, 'A Bitter Harvest- The good life & unresolved murder of Derry Gaa man Sean Brown' by Garbhan Downey. A strong turn out of support for the Brown family and Bellaghy GAC. Niall Murphy gave an up to date account of the current legal position and next steps. I believe, and maybe naively that the SOS Hilary Benn's father Tony, would turn in his grave at the stalling/impediments his son has placed in the way of getting to the truth and the implications of 25 state agents in a public enquiry. Its truly disgusting & shocking, but sadly not surprising from the Brits.

I also went early to see the game with Bellaghy & Magherafelt, very rarely see any league football in Derry, would go to alot of championship games. I thought the refs in Antrim were poor, but not a patch on this ref. He went out of his way to beat Bellagy or help Magherafelt, I don't know what way to put it. A bad buoy in my view. After that I will not knock another Antrim ref. In saying that both teams put up an entertaining game.

That's interesting. My work colleague from Magherafelt said the ref went out of his way to penalise Bellaghy. When he told me who the ref was I can't say it surprised me and thats not good for a ref when he starts to loose players and supporters respect.

Screen definitely getting it tight. Would Limavady not be in that relegation pot once county players return, would imagine Ballinderry would pick up enough pts when they have all their players.

Agreed, 3 big players to come back for Ballinderry will push them on a bit. Kilrea don't appear to be in good way of going.

Screen have been floating about there for 2/3years in relegation play-offs and that so not surprised they are in another battle.

Surely going to be a serious slog for Slaughtmanus from now until the end of the year. Hammered by Eoghan Rua tonight and only scoring an average of 10 points per game and conceding almost 30.

Brendan

Only 5 more games until the split then they'll be up against teams more at their level

Brendan

Is the Ardmore fella still about here? I see they conceded another game today wondering how the situation is now hoping they pull it together as they have a couple of underage teams about to break through so hopefully don't fold before then

A number done on two provincial champions this weekend. This coming weekend will be critical for the confidence, two championship losses on the bounce could leave the thing a bit fragile again, I hope to f**k they can do it

Not fielding at Rd2 league game not a good sign.

I notice that some of amount of clubs don't have reserve teams nowadays.

That's not much good for:

- developing younger players.
- keep older lads playing a year or two longer.

In a year or so, I think reserve football will be a thing of the past.

Anybody know why? Is it lack of players now at senior level (too serious) or just lads couldn't be bothered anymore?

3rd is popular now, the intensity if senior training isn't appealing to the casual player who maybe just wants to play a bit of reserve football.

This new idea of playing reserves after the senior match isn't helping either, anytime I've seen it about 40% of the crowd will have left with another 40% leaving as the traffic clears leaving a very tame atmosphere and matches with zero intensity

I saw that's the timings of a lot of them games Brendan.

My take on it was that some of these players were needed as subs for the senior game, hence it being played first.

Then the reserve game played after senior game.

I saw a fairly solid senior team who had a bench of about 15 players but couldn't field a reserve team. They were sitting in and around the dugout. Was thinking why were they not playing a reserve game afterwards.
