Gough made a dig signal with his hand after issuing the card.

Men its Kildare... 4th best team in Leinster.. catch a grip

On other note,I am hearing a club not happy with their management team already. Not happy with the Armagh men

According to the highlight show last night neither were red cards - so bad day at the office for gough yet again.
Very poor ref.
The goal we conceded was very soft - and whilst I thought McGuckin has been doing alright that was a big mistake. Is it lack of size maybe?

On the plus side for Derry, we have back to back wins, and we won this one without Glass, McCloskey (injured?), McEvoy, and Lynch. Hopefully big Higgins will be back in soon too. Things starting to shape up a bit and getting a bit of confidence back is key and also developing a bit of depth on the panel.

Watched a few of those games yesterday, Donegal looked strong but Mayo also never seemed to get going.
Roscommon looked very strong for the majority of the game but just couldn't kill Armagh off.
Tyrone v Cavan game was rubbish - Cavan could have put it to bed in the first half then collapsed in the 2nd, defending was shocking. I think Tyrone will have a tough year.

I still think Meath are the favourite to go up.

Canavan reckoned it was actually a body check on Glass which technically should've been a black card for the Kildare buck but true to form Gough gives Glass a red.
Early days and all but it's hard to see past Kerry and Donegal again. Galway looking strong too.

Quote from: Squareball71 on February 09, 2026, 06:42:16 PMGood result for the senior hurlers at the weekend and a more than decent performance by the U.20 hurlers against Antrim. A shame for the minors and hopefully only an early season blip against Wicklow. Pity there's no chat about hurling, but only talk about Derry City and Limavady United over the last few days.

Strong agree with this Squareball.

U20s had a good win against Wicklow yesterday.

Regarding the minors, Wicklow had a convincing win over Down yesterday, so perhaps this is a particularly strong side.

Congratulations to University of Ulster, Magee on winning the Fergal Maher Cup convincingly. See they had players from across the North and beyond on their panel, but a significant Derry representation.

I read they went undefeated this season, winning  by an average of 10+ per game. Some achievement for any team.

Meenagh talked about someone with a facial injury but McGuckin took a bad hit so it's maybe him. I think the bench depth will be tried a bit more this weekend.

Any Lavey men know if James Sargent will return this year? I noticed him among other U20s on the bench

Personally wouldn't even appeal Glass red, week off will do him no harm and if can't beat Offaly without him we'll have a short year. We all know these refs get a bit uptight when questioned and proven wrong. Let David feel important and move on.

Martin Bradley back on the bench I noticed another option.

Still appeal as it simply was not a red!

Definitely. Also if it's not overturned a second red card later this season would result in double the suspension so much better to get this thrown out.

That's a good point actually. I'd was of the frame of mind to say let is slide as we can cope in our next game, but it's a fair point - you wouldn't want to risk that later in the season.

Was McCluskey even on the bench in Kildare?

Score Beo didn't have him listed. Heard another interview with Meenagh saying it's not serious but he's out for a few weeks.

The facial injury is the one sustained by McGuckin, could be out for a few weeks.
