So beating Antrim has guaranteed us a semi-final.

Not meant to sound cheeky btw. Just a statement of fact.

Pity as both of them have plenty of potential.
Incorrect. They were dropped. Hopefully see the both back at some stage.

Gilmore long term injured, i dont see him on the Dublin uni team he got injured with last year.

Its hard to argue with them being dropped when you see the players on the pitch tonight and add in players rested and Sigerson.
Mc Monagle not breaking into that team and Gilmore struggled before getting injured.

Here come the you don't like the city brigade.🫣

As a City man I think McMonagle could maybe have been given a chance over Matthew Downey after a very good club Championship but there is a lot of competition in the front lines so although unlucky to miss out it isn't something that is unfathomable.

Gilmore is different. He hasn't played a lot and is still struggling a bit with the injury after some setbacks. Fully expect him to return to the Panel at some stage.

Gilmore was good enough to me for been in the panel, but he hasnt played for steelstown last year and got badly hurt fot the Dublin uni this time last year.

Oh, on point difference. Very good. Good to get at least 1 more competitive McKenna game especially with Sunday's game culled.

Derry Optimist

By all accounts Derry played well last night with many of the debutants doing particularly well. However,we must remain grounded as there will be many more difficult days to come. Re who is or is not on the panel, I must keep repeating my annual complaint. I think that it is only fair to supporters that all County Senior management teams should release the names of their full squad in advance of the competitive season. I never remember any of our previous management teams doing this.

It is a pity because knowing which players are available is a simple marketing ploy to get supporters  interested in the team. Speaking of which, Donncha Gilmore and Cahir McMonagle are certainly worth their place in the squad. Maybe Donncha  will return when he is fully fit. Likewise Oisin McWilliams.  I have not heard any mention recently re Ruairi Forbes,Patrick McGurk, Danny McDermott, Caolan Devlin or Rory McGill. Presumably the first three  at least are on the 2026.

There's a crop of lads playing Sigerson, resting aswell as having Lynch and McEvoy injured, all to come back. Plenty of new names mean others have to be cut, can't just keep piling them in

I didn't make it to the game last night but watched the live stream.
Decent enough showing, particularly the 2nd half.
Great to see McKinless, Clucky and McGrogan really standing out given their long injury lay-offs. The midfield pairing did well enough, and both CD and Cassidy showed they could be an option there.
Scullion did ok, couple of poor enough misses from 45's but you can forgive that given the conditions and heavy wet pitch. His kickouts were good. It does look like Meenagh isn't going to play a roaming keeper though based on last night.

The real bonus was how impactful the young lads were when they came on. Pace and direct running. Conditioning prob needs a bit of work for all of them though, but that comes over time. All certainly looked like they have something to offer.

Any word on young Sergeant and his injury?

With Glass, Rogers, McEvoy and McGuigan all not playing it does feel like we are getting a little bit of depth into the squad.
Hopefully Clucky just got a knock and it's nothing any more serious than that.

Patrick McGurk was listed at 26 in a teamsheet I saw on Ulster GAA X account.
Ruairi Forbes and Danny McDermott I have saw mention on Sigerson panels
I heard a couple of months ago R McGill was injured but no idea on his selection status
6 points between the starting forwards, you'd like more starters rasing orange and white flags as the season progresses.

Patrick Mc Gurk was there last night seen him doing some running on the pitch, Forbes is injured. Martin Bradley on the bench didn't get a run out
Don't think Oisin Mc Williams anywhere near fit yet, he's had awful time of injuries but hopefully get back at it.
No mention of Caolin Devlin

McDermott (x2) were playing for jordanstown the other eve, as was Diamond. Forbes and Higgins (x2) were playing for Queens last night
