Hard to disagree with a lot but for me McCloskey & Glass have to be in for winning all stars

Haven't thought about it at all but to leave out clucker is ridiculous. He should definitely be in before mcgrogan. I'd have skinner in there somewhere also, probably ahead of Mcbride. Hard to believe geard o'kane isn't in there either, he'd be a cert for me. Paul mcflynn also. How mcgrogan is ahead of those lads is incredible.

As much as I like McGrogan, have to agree that McFlynn in particular would be ahead of him.
Skinner, McBride, Fergal Doc, Gerard O'kane, Nail McCosker (the job he did on Donaghy in a league final alone deserves a spot)....even Patsy B. Clucker brilliant at going forward but as an out-and-out corner back probably hard to oust SML or McKaigue.

When you look at those players, it's almost unbelievable that we didn't win something during that era.

Probably some recency bias in relation to McGrogan selection, clubs been competing well in Derry/Ulster would been more in public eye of late when not alot of football on.

GOK was a quality operator playing in less successful Derry sides, McBride and McFlynn the same.

Haven't had time to give this its full merit but I'd have:

Lockhart, McCloy, McCluskey, Glass, F Doherty, M Lynch, McGuigan, Paddy Bradley and Muldoon as certs.

Very strong arguments for McCaigue, McFlynn, Rogers and Tohill.

Decent shouts for McKinless, SL McGoldrick, CD, Niall McCusker, G O'Kane and Skinner

Clearly a dearth of good keepers, big Damien hasn't been bettered.

McKaigue surely in certs ahead of McCloy?

A clear #4 at midfield for me after Glass, Rogers and Tohill but sure thats what opinions are for.

Team isn't bad. I'd have to find room for McCluskey and Glass. Probably Skinner too.

No, preferred McCloy at full back to McCaigue. There's a good argument for Chrissy at 6 though. Again, only an opinion.

Anthony Tohill undoubtedly our best ever player but if were talking about just the last 25 years id have to give it to glass over him. Crazy that we could be even having a discussion about not including glass.

Kieran Mckeever is probably another who just about misses out because of his timeline (but still definitely in the all time 15)

Chrissy at 6 never worked imo. As short as we were on CHBs over the years Rogers was/is better in CHB than Chrissy.
For me Chrissy was only effective for Derry at FB or CB.
McCloy was class at his peak. So was Nial McCusker. Dermot McBride was one of the top CBs in the country for a while too.

Big Dougie probably misses out but worth a mention. Karl diamond?

I'm getting deja vu again lol have we done this before?

I've bluffed a few positions here but I had to get certain faces in.

Probably has been done before.

A interesting one would be to limit the team to one player per club. Or maybe two.

Madness, it really is hard to believe, but McGrogan spearheaded our most important line (half back line) propelling us to back to back Ulster titles.

Topmarks

I'll come out of hibernation for this chat. Some great shouts about who should and shouldn't be in our top 15. I'm of the opinion similar to a previous post that Anthony Tohill is our best player ever but I take this as the best after the 93 team. Glass has to be in the team and Fergal Doc as well. Clucker and skinner would also be in for me.

Honourable mentions that haven't got much fanfare include; Dermot McBride, Declan Mullen, James Kielt, Kevin Johnston, Niall McCusker.

Best player in this period for me is Brendan Rogers. Worked his tail off for 10 plus years, improved his skills every year, hard as nails and the beating heart of the team.

Favourite player for me is Skinner Bradley. A once in a generation maverick, skill and pace to burn and out and out threat every time he got the ball.
