Surprised to see a few team selections that dont have McFaul on. I think he would be a plus for any team in the country.

Mans got a Bureato to run now

Apart from that, if fully fit, agreed.
Rumours were he was retiring but don't think that was ever confirmed

My worry is Mc Faul slows the game alot when has the ball but 100% there is spot for him on any squad.

Few names being thrown about who had decent Derry Championships but realistically are they going to improve what we already have. Does Ciaran Hendry make it onto a 24 man championship squad? Massive potential yes but its some commitment to join more than likely train for 1+ years in the hope of getting a game.

I'd be more inclined to drip feed youth that have been steadily coming through and are probably closer to the standard/ commitment needed.

Cahir Mc Monagle was super in this years championship but hasn't ever got a chance with Derry, sometimes I think it forgotten how massive a step up it is.

Cahir is a class act. He played under Tally I think. He'd be in my squad. Improving every year.
Big Tohill not selected? Meenagh seems to be going after the panel he had with RG.

For my sins I was at every one of Tallys games, he didn't play much, few sub appearances where he was ok.

Strange take on Meenagh considering you actually haven't any idea what squad is, like the rest of us

I would agree with a lot of what is said here. It's clear a good club player doesn't necessarily make a good county player. That's not to say we shouldn't keep searching outside the core team and underage teams for the next Tony Scullion. However, in reality they are few and far between.

Gallagher wanted a certain type of player the problem was he couldn't see beyond 17 or so players. I do believe we have a bit more depth now and with strong underage teams that area will further improve in the next couple of years. My question is who is going to jump into Meenaghs starting team like Paul Cassidy did under Gallagher?

I think McFaul as centre forward does slow Derry down too much. I think he should play as a 6, that's his natural position and despite McKinless making almost everyone's team on here it is hard to gauge where he is at following two really serious injuries. Possibly better to use him as an impact sub to begin with anyways.

Cahir will be in around the squad I have heard but whether he starts or not is a different question. He could possibly play himself into the team as it progresses but the forward line is pretty set I would imagine.

E. Doherty
McFaul(though I would play him at 6)
Cassidy

Murray
McGuigan
Loughlin

I would be surprised if this wasn't the first choice forward line. Possibly J. Doherty if he commits at centre forward if McFaul plays at 6.
