That the choice now seems to come down to RG who was unavailable and MOR who may have turned it down previously, gives an indication of why all Ireland winning combo Harte and Devlin got the job.
Always thought D Cassidy got the job too early if him and Brennan had been swapped I think it would have worked out better. We might chance upon someone or head to division 4 again.

Real Talk

I'd say its unlikely we could access big sponsorship unless we have an experienced proven Manager and backroom team ... that leaves RG and M O'R and maybe M O'R/R Porter does not want it.

In the current game at least one of the Management has to be full time and all good managers like to bring their own Trainer plus their choice of S&C coach with them

Not easy to sort

How many more years have Errigal, as sponsors, left on their contract?

That was their third year. So fair chance things are up for renewal or for someone new to step in.

New jersey this season, I doubt there must have been an extension?

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 11, 2024, 09:23:13 PMThere nobody in the county fit for it, how many previous managers has it took, for the county to realise that. What has any in-house club manager done to become a Derry manager. f**k All! Its O'Rourke, Gallagher and I honestly see no-one else fit for it We not get P Gilroy, J Gavin. In highsight, should Meenagh been leave at it a year last year to see if he could cut the mustard.?

Could someone translate please?

I think the reference was to the new 2024 jersey with Errigal as sponsor. Probably means wouldn't be change of sponsor in 2025.

Yeah that's what I meant to say

Great to see another Ulster team in the final but after the past few years it's hard not to be jealous that we weren't the team that made it. I'm sure the players are thinking the same. Hopefully we can get the manager situation sorted soon and use it as motivation to get back to where we were pre Donegal game.

If you look at our last two championship games v Kerry we were well in it for an hour and last year the better team by a distance. Armagh today were probably second best until 45 min when the goal sparked them into life but what sets them apart from us at the minute is definitely their squad depth. Bringing on the likes of Soupy, McQullian, Jarly og, Duffy etc. We can't do that. We did work on it this year before being decimated by injuries but needs to again be a priority for the new manager in the league this year.

Other thoughts are that the greatest minor set up of recent times is probably Kerry and their 5 in a row 2014 to 2018 I think. They've maybe got 5 or 6 players from a 100 minor all Ireland winners. A lot probably thought they would dominate senior around this time but they seem to be getting worse and they don't have a great squad either. Underage success is no guarantee of senior success though it definitely helps and id be happy to take the 1 senior AI that group has won for our recent successful minor teams!

Are them minors there or is  that Jack O'Connor is not bringing them in?

Has that Kerry team been revamped this past few years or is it basically the same panel of players?

Estimator

Had a look at the Kerry minor teams last night, listed as many players that I could think of from each team. Only named them in the first year they played. 13 players in total, we're involved yesterday. I'm sure there are others that were on the panel at one stage or another.

2014:
Shane Ryan
Brian O'Beaglaioch
Tom O'Sullivan
Killian Spillane

2015:
Jason Foley
Gavin White
Sean O'Shea
Mike Breen
Graham O'Sullivan

2016:
Dara Moynihan
Diarmuid O'Connor
David Clifford

2017:

2018:
Dylan Geaney

Fair enough more than I thought. Point still stands that they haven't had the success you'd expect from such a crop

Wildweasel74

Other teams have better forwards  and better subs. There are Armagh players who are prepared to be a sub and be called upon. In Derry, if they not starting I don't think top players sit on the bench like Armagh. Also Donegal, Armagh, and Donegal have very big midfields and we need to adjust to that nxt year. Derry have not blooded enough players past 3/4yrs and too many players leave the panel over the 3yrs.

Wildweasel74

Oh and that Kerry 5 in a row minor never won a U21/20 All-Ireland, mainly because they drafted Clifford and O'Shea straight to senior def lost them a couple.
