Quote from: Champion The Wonder Horse on June 03, 2025, 08:31:18 PMI'm at a loss as to why anyone would possibly prefer Clones.
Love the relaxed party atmosphere pre-game around Clones. You don't get it anywhere else up North.

Yes, I'd be well relaxed after taking three hours to get there, being charged €10 to park in a field two miles from the ground with a fair chance of not getting out of it until the next day, paying €36 for two burgers and three chips and over-priced, flat, warm pints out of plastic glasses.

Ninety minutes to newry, park for free with 500 yards of the grounds, Friar Tucks, then decent cheap pints before the game and stay in the shamrocks club afterwards for a few pints to let the traffic die down. And still home before you'd be out of that field in Clones.

Whatever floats your boat. Maybe it was more that I was young and foolish but I have nothing but good memories of Clones.

And of the young and foolish, have both conditions changed?

thebuzz

Well the young has changed. I'm 63 now. But I'd still be foolish enough to be happy to go to Clones to watch a football match.

I'm 69 and unfortunately or perhaps fortunately only one of those conditions have changed.

Logistics wise, Newry. But, I'd rather we were playing the Dubs in Clones (bit of extra walking / time doesn't change that)

Lynch
Baker Mc Evoy Mc Gurk
CD     Paudi  Dan Higgins
    Rogers Glass
Mc Faul Cassidy Ethan
Loughlin Mc Guigan Murray

Expect Higgins to be around middle more and Mc Faul around half back. Forbes, Toner, Tommy Rogers to be making an impact off the bench.
Harsh on Toner with my line up but we need more of a scoring threat on the pitch.

That would be their best team but would be tempted to leave Murray on bench for the impact off the bench. Tho If got the wind first half I'd start him

Toner was one of our best players the last day, IMO we lost the game when he was taken off.

Agreed, has been consistantly good in a Derry shirt. He covered an incredible amount of ground v Galway and v rarely wasted possession

I agree but just think out of the 6 forwards he's probably least likely to chip in will few scores. Maybe his role is bit more out round middle hoovering up loads of breaking ball.
Hoping Rogers gets the nod before Tohill, although hes young hes better footballing head on his shoulders, Tohill confidence looks totally shot and I thought he had turned a corner in his last couple league games.

Brendan

Toner has come in for some undeserved flack at times, he's consistently getting on the scoreboard and working hard, taking over from Benny Heron since his retirement maybe

Some real competition for places 👌

Any news on Lynch, clucky and marty Bradley? Will lynch start? Or will other two men make the bench? I know tally said clucky had been back training well around the armagh game. He would be some addition to the 26. Don't know what it is but I have a very good feeling about Saturday. The Galway game proves that if this team show up with that attitude, determination and game plan then they can still be one of the top teams in the country. Saturday is the big one. Knock the Dubs out in the white heat of championship (something we havent done since 1993), regroup and hopefully the draw is good to us FOR A CHANGE in the preliminary quarters.
