Quote from: Rossfan on December 03, 2025, 11:37:53 AMIf the Brits had dumped South Down, South Armagh, large parts of Fermanagh and Tyrone and Derry City they and the Unionists would have got themselves a tiny little totally non viable Statelet for all time.

Fixed that for you!

3 February 1959

Buddy Holly , Richie Valens and the Big Bopper all  gone in a plane crash. And the pilot

I'd imagine nobody here is old enough to remember it  happening?

It's amazing after nearly 70 years, Buddy Holly's music still  lives on

Good music never dies and many artists have been inspired by Buddy Holly, such as the Beatles,Rolling Stones,Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

A tragic event that inspired Don McLean iconic song American Pie (1971). The day the music died...

"A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
But February made me shiver with every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step."
I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside the day the music died..."

Was at it. Was huge noise and excitement but wasn't a punch thrown. Is more like a soccer 'row' with players pushing each other or pulling team-mates away. Nothing like Meath - Mayo. That was a fight!
