It was stop start cause Dublin continously fouled and not 1 yellow card for sysmatic fouling. They highlighted it on the Sunday game tonight  which was quite obvious during the game. Wouldn't mattered Dublin were way fitter, more scoring options.

She covered it the essentials. Didn't make it about her and presented the Cup.

Jarlath doesn't make it about himself. He may digress a touch and prolong handing over the cup, but it ain't about him.

Dublin operated at a different level yesterday. Meath looked like an intermediate team. Meaths forward line were static and never gave an option for a ball to be kicked in.

QuoteNo chance Dublin bigger, heavier, fitter and multi players can score. They a bunch of hallions though, any time Meath try to get in the scoring zone
Dublin very cynical  with their fouling

There was some stats a few years ago showing the number of fouls in ladies football versus men's that it took to get a yellow card. The stats showed it was higher in ladies despite the lower bar for a foul , the theory being that ref's reluctant to give cards given the straight sin bin.

The top teams have leant into this and now systematically foul their way to wins (not just Dublin).

Maybe Jim Gavin needs to take a look.

Bit disingenuous to suggest the Dubs "fouled their way" to the win. They were vastly superior yesterday.

Absolutely.

bit like last weeks mens final
Dublin went for the juggler from the start, game was over before meath realised they were in a game
same as Donegal last week

big difference in the standard if the senior & intermediate
not sure if tyrone will survive.. hopefully they do
they just looked lightweight compared to the dubs and even meath

I really don't think Meath can have too many complaints given they are well able to foul

I really think it's a problem with the LGFA rules as opposed to one set of players or team.

The punishments for going out and fouling in the ladies game aren't severe enough so teams are going to go out and foul constantly in order to win.

An instant improvement would be to bring in the solo-and-go because it's clear teams use fouling to slow up play and get players back into defence.

I think that this on it's own probably would not be sufficient but it would lead to some improvement and would likely have a good chance of being passed. It would be a good quick starting place to build on tackling the issue of having teams that go out and foul constantly having a significant advantage over any team that doesn't cheat by fouling opposition players.

befair

I notice more teams starting to defend in depth around the small D, as v few ladies can score consistently from further out. Maybe a 3-up rule is needed here as well, as it's been successful in the men's game. Agree that systematic fouling needs to be addressed

Captain Scarlet

I am a total neutral but the cycnical talk is something I see is more of a symptom of the rules of the game. There's no real pulling off the ball or dragging jerseys, it's more a Meath player trying to run straight down the middle and into a pile of bodies. That's a free in LGFA but if lads were doing it some would be frees out after getting bottled up. You'd also have everyone here asking WTF are X or Y team doing.

That's the one rule that needs changing. Even in the intermediate final there were some frees where a Tyrone player stood her ground. Laois player ran straight into her and then fell, so it's a free in.

Then on the flip Vikki Wall gets done for charging when she is just physically stronger than most. Players just stand there, take contact and then it's a free out.

There needs to be scope for players to put their bodies on the line fairly. Like I said if a men's team were running straight into the traffic on the edge D we'd be calling out the stupidity. In this case they win frees and then the defenders are accused of cynicism.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

I find it rich, the same type of butch men who taunt men like me who watch shows like EastEnders are the same men who spend their weekend discussing and watching women's football.

Kerry started strategic fouling but Ulster teams got the blame.
