With the attendance of SDLP leader Colm Eastwood at yesterday's Ulster Unionist Party Conference and pledging co operation/collaboration/ subordination,it seems to me that Sinn Fein and the SDLP are now merely the junior coalition partners of the DUP and UUP respectively,in Governmment and opposition. They are controlled totally by their dominant Unionist party masters and are effectively neutralised, mere puppets.

How has it come to this?

Nationalist sell outs attend unionist conference. Not much to see here.

Another thread where Tony tries to persuade us all to abandon a 32 county Ireland.

How many is that now?

When the last Nordie has abandoned the board to migrate to telegraph.Co.uk Cassandra may have a point.
Meanwhile Brexit is tearing the UK apart. The economy needs payrises and the voters decide to tell the main export market to f**k off. You could not make it up.

There are 3 Cassandras on the board at present (maybe I'm missing others):

Yourself on Brexit
Fearon on Celtic
The Stallion on Liverpool

Does us a favour and dry your eyes & shut your bakes

It is also ironic that SF and SDLP can happily coalesce with the DUP and UUP respectively but cannot strike any sort of co operative political  relationship with each other.

"a vote for colum is a vote for mike"

I think that's the final nail in the SDLP coffin. No longer a nationalist party.

The nationalist voters need to just get off their lazy arses! Anna Lo in the paper again today supporting a United Ireland. If it is ever going to happen then it needs more people in 'the middle ground' like Anna to actually voice an opinion. Alliance and especially the Greens politically will be closer to the nationalist parties than the Uniionist parties but you only have to look back at how so many in the Alliance party were disgusted and appalled by Anna voicing a legitimate personal opinion that you realise there are still major stumbling blocks.

Eastwood is going to look like a complete tool when the DUP and UUP agree an electoral pact at the next Westminster elections to keep themmuns out.

Agreed no matter what the UUP say and do when it comes to the crunch they will go back into their trench to keep themmuns out and themmuns includes SDLP not just SF as it was well publicised at the time both Unionist parties were desperate to oust McDonnell in South Belfast but couldnt agree terms

SF where desperate to oust him too, and weren't too bothered about a Unionist getting in

SF and SDLP need to sort out their petty sqaubbling. McDonnell is my MP and some of the rumours being spread about him true or not at the time of the election were disgracefull and it was obvious which party was responsible.
