Poor Larries. Maybe the least offensive neighbours we have.

What have Laytrum done to ye?

Leitrim hate Roscommon more than any of the other Connacht counties. In terms of the three most venomous rivalries in Connacht it's Ros-Mayo, Mayo-Galway and Ros-Leitrim. It's a pity there's no Leitrim posters here because they've got a mad set on Roscommon.

Mayo-Galway is not anything near a venomous rivalry. In fact it is a very healthy and usually friendly rivalry.

The venomous rivalries in Connacht all include Roscommon for some reason.

Oh come off it. I'm near enough to both borders to know exactly how much glee Galway football heads take in Mayo tanking in every AI final they get to. In fairness Muppet your character on here comes off more the aloof Galway type who has been fed stories of the 60s (and then reinforced by two quick fire AIs about 20 years back) than the regular Mayo supporter who tends to be just about ready to hop off the bar stool any time Mayo doing anything halfways right. To say Mayo people are an excitable bunch is hardly a stretch.

Mayo's biggest strength is their deranged passion, you should embrace it Muppet.

Of course you would know more about Mayo-Galway than either Mayo or Galway people.

Hmmmm. Galways are getting close to Cork as regards apathy about their football. They made a burst in support from 98-01 but little interest before or since. 01 is a long time ago now. Their hurlers (who are a different county anyway for all intents and purposes) are nearly 30 years from their last AI, even though they are a big fish in a very small pond.

There will always be a bit of begrudgery between neighbours. My neighbouring Sligos love to see us go belly up. But they do watch us closely.

What's the craic with playing a league round over four days?

1 game between Dromard and Ballymhon played on Tuesday night , because the Dromard club were running a big fund raiser on Fri night . 4 games played on Friday evening . 1 played on Sunday because both clubs provide most of the county hurling team . Very little sympathy for the the county management on this .

DuffleKing

League games should be played on the fixed date or you play without county players. A club fundraiser takes precedence over the ACL fixtures and county team's training program? Cop on ffs.

Roscommon is the Blanche Dubois of Connacht football. It's dog eat dog for the Rossies.

Galway fans want Mayo to win the effin  thing at this stage and get over with it.
Very curt dismissal of 5 all Irelands there, Syf.  :o

I would love to be able to pull into pubs in Ros and Mayo and see photos  of recent Sam winners up the walls, as you can in Milltown for example
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZSjqKeuiUs

I always wonder what it must feel like for Mayo people to see those photos.

Longford CCCC being as fair as possible to the clubs . Without the clubs there's no county.  Connerton proposed that last week games be played midweek after the Offaly game  between rounds 6 and 7 . That would have meant clubs playing Sunday Wednesday Saturday.  3 games in 7 days ,very noble of him . The county panel has been together nearly 6 months now and if they're not in a position to beat a team they have already  played 4 times in the last year ,then what has been going on . There is little or no support for him after that cringe worthy interview with Marty Morrisey

Hope that was done inside as , if it was done outside in the rain, the collective hair dye mess would be startling  :P

So club games went ahead and no word form Denis and management since - are they really going to spite their faces and step down at this point, 10 days from the game?

Wording of the statement and interviews to media have been very defeatist in tone and downbeat, almost like getting their excuses in beforehand.

On another note, any word re the development of Carriglass or the stand? Surely a portion of the stand could be open, not as if theres going to be a capacity crowd there at any stage in near future!

sligoman2

Unbelievable,

Another thread sabotaged by the Roscommon V Mayo bullshit.
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure.
