Eamon Fitzmaurice is going to be hung, drawn and quartered over this comment

I don't think this is a slip of the tongue by Fitzmaurice at all. He is cool and calculating and doesn't utter a word out of place. I think he's prepared to take the heat that will be coming his way shortly, for using the rape analogy, to highlight how Donaghy gets no frees under the high ball. This mini controversy will linger in refs minds throughout the summer, which is its desired intention IMO. The more public the hanging the better for Fitzmaurice & Donaghy.

Right now, I can guarantee that some journo is trying to get hold of the Rape Crisis Centre, or some other advocacy group, to comment directly on this.
If and when they do, that is when this will blow up in a big way.
At the moment, very few people are aware of what he said as it was reported in the sports pages.
Once it hits the news/comments pages, watch out.
The fact that he is a school teacher will be used against him in a big way.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

If it isn't able to be explained away as a turn of phrase then the Country's fucked. . . everyone knows the intent of the comment if it happens as you say Jinxy god help us!!

Everyone with half a brain will know exactly what he meant.
That won't stop a lot of them pretending to be outraged.
This is the world we live in.

I see Oisin would concur with the lack of help Donaghy got from the ref. Eddie Kinsella is not up to inter county reffing.

Fitzmaurice only spinning keep the heat off. The animals below have to be fed. Paudi knew well the entitlement of the Kingdom. Only Dublin's respect for Kerry prevented a worse beating. Cluxton coming up to instruct the peno to be put over the bar is revealing. Dublin could have put a way bigger score up the last day if they were not so conservative. At least one of the Brogan points would have been worked a goal against anybody else. Another step and it was ..........

The Donaghy ff play seems to only work against Mayo. Pathetic from a Mayo point of view.

Or the welcome he gave McMenamin last year. Or the deaf ear he turned to David Coldrick.

Perhaps we could have a radical new policy - Refs apply the rules from the T O whether a chap is 6'7" or 5'5".
Then take it from there.
