Thought I'd get a bit of discussion going maybe, I only recently started following GAA more closely...

So if you were voting for a best goals or points, either football or hurling, what would you go for?

Philly's in the final, one of the best.
They get momentum, they go mad, here they go

Hard to look beyond Matthew Kelly for football GOTY

Some finish alright.

Even the build up play was one for the purists - 2 long kick passes, used his body to let the ball into space and then that finish....

Point of the year, Michael Murphy v Galway

Contender for goal of the year in the same game (MacNiallais, then McFadden's pass, Murphy's flick, and McHugh's finish)

Did he mean that?

Right boot from the right corner flag while on the move?

Great score, but I'm skeptical as to whether he was really aiming for the man coming in around the square.

Of course, he may do that shot regularly, which would render my skepticism misplaced.

He recreated it at club training for Joe.ie: http://www.joe.ie/sport/vine-mayos-andy-moran-recreates-ridiculous-outside-of-the-boot-point-v-galway-at-club-training/501473

Although it doesn't say how many attempts he had.  ;D

He is inclined to shoot from that angle though: https://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=aaplw&p=joe.ie+andy+moran+point  ;)

Joe Cannings goal. No doubting his intentions. Pure class

Joe Cannings goal was unbelievable allright.

Personally for me the point of the year was actually a Galway point as well.

Scored by Shane Walsh for Galway against Donegal when he came on. In second half he took the ball up the left wing at pace soloing it on the right foot. And without breaking stride he smacked it over the bar from 40 yards out on the wing with his left foot. Essentially he got tired/bored soloing on his right and decided to put it over the bar with his left. I never saw anything like it considering it was done without him changing or adjusting his pace for the shot.

Admittedly the game was over but it would be great to see that score again. Would anyone have a vimeo or any idea where to see it? I think it was midway through the second half of the 1/4 final.

That was actually part of why I asked, I like making gifs/webm and was planning on making some more, I'll get you one of that tomorrow! :)

Beffs

Cannings goal takes everyone elses out behind the coal shed, beats them to a bloody pulp, calls their mama a big fat ho & then laughs in their faces.  :P
