good banter on twitter last night

June bank holiday weekend. Memories of 2002 Ireland v Cameroon at 7am in WC followed by Dubs v Wexford in Dr Cullen Park and the ensuing mess of drunken dubs streaking for the afternoon >:( >:(

Football in  Nowlan Park.. What next? A Gay Pride parade at the Kremlin?

10 years to take the Dubs out of Croke Park. 10 years!!! Then they don't even give them an away game, it's a neutral venue. This is an insult.

Having said that, hopefully this is the first tiny step in making progress on the Dublin situation. Take them away from Croke Park and then tackle the financial situation. I have serious doubts that that will happen anytime soon however.

So now instead of Dublin having 100% of their championship games at home they will only have 95% of their championship games at home.

Hurrah for tokenism !!!

Don't forget we have a hurling team also that plays alot outside of CP.

Anyhow, what is the next megawhinge for the mediamob to row in behind?

This.   ;D

Sadly you're right. The money continues to flow into Dublin GAA.

Point is that Dublin teams have always played outside CP in the championship. Senior footballers the exception the last decade or so.

Great to see them playing down the country again.

I've been saying for years that Dubl$n will ruin Gaelic Games as we know it. With the millions that's been pumped into developing their players it's been made it impossible for most counties to compete. Some counties have found a short term solution, they've spent huge sums on their senior teams. They wont be able to do this forever and it means that counties with very little money are miles behind those that do.

Dublin county board vote to have their games played in Croke Park every year, where are you getting this willing to travel nonsense from? Crowds wont be going to Leinster matches at all if the situation is let continue. Central funds are not allocated appropriately.

Are you having a LAUGH? Always played outside Croke Park? In what? The O'Byrne Cup? The Dublin football team have had home advantage for nearly a decade! Who are you fooling? You have tried to water this down by throwing in a bit of tokenism from the Hurlers. It's a continual theme - Sure we follow the Hurlers down the country! - Another way for saying that balances thing out for our footballers playing every game in their back garden.

Remember 2015 and Dublin v Mayo in Castlebar? What was the score again? Be careful what you wish for.

Over the past forty years during which Dublin played most of their Leinster championship games outside Croke Park they rarely lost a game "on the road". Whenever they were beaten it tended to be in Croke Park.

Was that game in Castlebar a Championship game? (Feck me, ye even got home advantage for all the knock out games in the League the last number of years). You say Over the past forty years during which Dublin played most of their Leinster championship games outside Croke Park they rarely lost a game "on the road". Whenever they were beaten it tended to be in Croke Park.

The reason they lost in Croker was because they did not get the warm up games in earlier rounds against weaker competition to get used of the pitch as well as a spring of home games in the league to further familiarise yourself with the surroundings.

And as for Be careful what you wish for. - I think it's no harm to want a level playing field (to use the pun). Dublin have had to much their own way. The way the GAA is set up, it's hard for to accommodate this uneven bias. But incremental bits and pieces can be done to reduce it.

Ummm yeah, wouldn't of objected to playing the 2013 all Ireland final there though , we might of even won . We would of certainly got the draw as Higgins point opener would of stood , I still don't know how Hawkeye said it was wide when it showed it as a point .
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .
