Performance Nutrition in Sport

We have agreed to bring Sport Nutrition experts from England Rugby and Team Sky to Belfast in January for a Sport Nutrition Workshop. We are currently taking expressions of interest to attend the event via our booking system. Please note we have limited spaces available and persons registering an expression of interest will receive advanced information on confirmed dates and fees.

The event will bring you:

Dr Graeme Close
Graeme is currently the expert nutrition consultant to England rugby and working at World Cup. He is also the lead nutritionist for British Ski and Snowboard as well as working with professional jockeys, European Tour golfers (including 2 Ryder Cup players) and provides research consultancy to Team GB Rowing.

Dr James Morton
Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, James has been based in Liverpool for over 10 years and is now a Reader in Exercise Metabolism & Nutrition at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). James joined Liverpool's backroom team in the summer of 2010 on a part-time basis, working two days a week at Melwood as a consultant nutritionist. In January 2015, James adopted the role of Team Nutritionist for Team Sky. He also sits on the Performance Nutrition Advisory group to the Football Association (FA) as well as directing nutrition related research projects for the English Institute of Sport (EIS).

FUEL THE ATHLETE - Sport Nutrition workshop - BELFAST - Sunday 31st January

Lear Training and St Marys University College PE Department invite you to join us at our sports nutrition seminar. The seminar includes 4 workshops that will give you plenty of 'food for thought' delivered by Dr Graeme Close and Dr James Morton (TEAM SKY).

The workshops are:

1. Fundamental exercise metabolism (JM)
2. Protein and the athlete (GC)
3. Current controversies with carbohydrate (JM)
4. Supplements - separating fact from fiction (GC)
