Is Conor Glass the Derry captain?  He could cap off some underage career if he ends up winning the All Ireland.  Is he underage next year?

Yes, he's the Derry captain.
No. Not underage next year. He turns 18 in Sept or Oct I believe.

Pleasantly surprised with that result. I was at the Leinster league final in Hawkfield and Dublin looked a small bit ahead of us then. Kildare have come a long way since the Louth match.

Three Leinster Finals in a row should bode well for the future. Should be a good final against Longford. The game between the two sides in Pearse Park last year was a cracker.

They've come a little bit under the radar but were strong at u16 level. There was 5 changes from the team that started against Louth to the one that started against Dublin. Michael Joyce at full-back is an interesting one, he played senior cup rugby for Newbridge and only really joined up with the panel once the rugby was finished and that did raise a few eyebrows. But credit to Hackett for leaving the door open and for making the changes, they have definitely grown as a team and the confidence of beating Dublin in Croker will only make them better. Another side note Peter Howard underage rugby starlet with Leinster probably would be on the panel only for injury to curtail his chance, he would have brought serious pace and physicality to the full forward line, like Matthew Kelly has a good eye for goal as well.

Keeping up the rugby theme I see Conor Nash played midfield for Meath, outstanding rugby player and played Irish Youths this year and is eligible again next year. AFL scouts sniffing around him as well.

We have a lad who's represented Ireland at underage in rugby this year too, Luke Carty (brother of Jack, the Connacht out-half). He was a starter last year and we thought he wasn't going to be available this year but he rejoined the panel a few weeks ago, which is a timely boost if there ever was one.

Also in case Sligo supporters haven't heard the minor match has been re-fixed for Kiltoom at the same time (7:30pm) on Friday.  Given the Hyde will be hosting the Connacht final getting it ready for the big match may have contributed to the change - if any of ye are complaining about the journey blame yerselves for beating us in the senior!!

Kildare have gone from 28/1 to 5/1 following their win. Crazy stuff .

There wouldn't be a huge amount expected of our minor team this year.
We had strong squads in the last 2 seasons but this years would be nowhere near as strong.
Connacht is wide open this year.
I would slightly fancy Mayo to win it.

Anyone every travelled from Knock airport to Kiltoom? Any shortcuts and how long will it take? I google mapped it and it said 1hr 10 mins through ballaghdereen

I wouldn't say that's a reflection of any gamble more that prior to Sunday, Kildare had a knock-out game against one of the favourites. They won and now they are through to the quarter-finals and with Donegal gone an easier potential path to the final. The Kildare minors have already exceeded expectation in getting to the last 8.

Stephen quirke being injured has significantly diminished our hopes of beating kerry Sunday that mixed with playing them in killarney with a big home support I think it will take a massive effort to dethrone them. What are the draws for the 1/4 finals this year? Is it munster v connaught and leinster v ulster?

Well actually I have a plan a and plan b, ive left original booking as it is flying at 20.00 tomorrow to Dublin, but Ive just booked the 15.40 to knock from Stansted as plan A if I can leave work early. Obviously plan b will mean I wont make it. But im hopeful I can make plan a, with dad picking me up. Ive only started a new job so bolting early will go down well but fck it I really want to see this match and support our lads.

Has Gavin Burke from TMH given up the egg chasing? There seems to be a lot of our minor players in recent years who have been in Newbridge College. It's good to see that the GAA is managing to attract the K4 brigade!
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

Yea didn't play SCT this year although tipped away with the Senior 2nds I believe. Seems to be a right cross over in Kildare, Paul Mescal and Chris Healy were good rugby players as well. And Sean Dempsey played 19s with Naas this year. Personally I'm all for multi-sport development, specialising late in your teens. I do know a couple of cases where kids have ended up in no-mans land trying to serve two masters and the demands though.

Is Conor Glass the Derry captain?  He could cap off some underage career if he ends up winning the All Ireland.  Is he underage next year?

Still no Ulster college All Star bestowed upon him, regardless of the fact that he played and won a Hogan medal as a fourth year, essentially suming up the embarrassing nature of this awful scheme.

Are these not decided by one off trial games?

I think its a joke how they are given out, surely a trial game or 2 is meaningless compared with those who are deemed to be the best over a given campaign.  Didn't realise he didn't have one, just assumed he had a few by this stage.  Unreal.
