twohands!!!

DIsgraceful scenes

Brogan v Maher grappling and a bit of an all-in schmozzle - pick up 2 yellow

Fitzsimons with a very cowardly hit on Fionn Fitgerald gets a straight red.

Ref blows it up Kerry 0-15 Dublin 1-10

Bit more needle in dublins game than usual. Wonder is that something they'll bring in this year or is it just because they're getting beat.

Fitzsimmons was a sending off waiting to happen.

twohands!!!

1 red 2 blacks and 4 yellow for the Dubs

2 blacks and 2 yellows for Kerry

Gavin won't be happy with that 2nd half performance; Dublin paid the price for not scoring more in the 1st half.

Tommy Walsh is his cameo still looked a fair bit rusty

Zulu

Why was Fitzsimmons sent off? Scrappy enough game in the second half but good pace and intensity to it and enjoyable enough.

I thought he should have been sent off for two yellows but didn't see how they could give him a straight red. Didn't see a strike.

He  should  have got yellow and should have had another one two minutes previous but didn't. So i don't know either.

twohands!!!

After the Maher Brogan flare-up he pretty much blindsided Fionn Fitzgerald and sent him flying.

Very stupid in that he 1) did it right in the ref's eyeline 2) it was just as the whole thing was almost died down, so you had a lot of lads holding jersies but his action was very noticeable. He basically made it very very easy for the ref to give him a red

imtommygunn

Was it a strike though?? He seemed to lose the plot the last five minutes.

Technically he might have a case but I can't see him getting it over-turned ; more importantly I can't see Gavin forgiving him for such blatant stupidity.

Zulu

What was stupid about it? He pushed a guy, if that equates to stupidity in the GAA we've a lot of stupid fellas. It wasn't a red, it wasn't cowardly as you claimed and it wasn't stupid. Was it necessary? No, but in a niggly game played in nasty winter weather you sometimes have to make sure that you put more of their lads on their arses than they do to you. It was a nothing incident and a guy shouldn't see red for it.

Definite red

Zulu

So if you push a guy and he falls its a red, if he doesn't it isn't?

Stupid was 1) what advantage did he or his team get out of it? 2) it was right in front of the ref (if you're going to do something in a schmozzle, don't do it after you've run straight in front of the ref eyeline to do it 3) it effectively helped Kerry wind down the clock that bit further.

It was cowardly because that's what I'd describe bowling into a lad who's looking the other way, especially one who is probably among the lightest of the Kerry team.

He should see red for it all day long.

Zulu

It wasn't in front of the ref and unfortunately there's been far more cowardly things done a football field. But if we ignore all that none of what you said is a red unless pushing hard is a red, is it?
