I was just reading the thread about Mick O'Dwyer and saw that he won his first All-Ireland in '59 and his last in '70. It got me thinking,  what is the longest time any player went between winning their first and last All-Irelands? Their is probably even bigger gaps between first and last provincial titles.

From the Bunker

Anto O'Toole 74 and 83.

Martin Furlong 71 and 82.

Sean Lowry 72 and 82.

A plethora of the Kerry Team 75 and 86.

Mattie McDonagh 56 and 66.

Jimmy Barry-Murphy.

1973 (football) - 1986 (hurling)

Dinny Allen would have won in 1973 and 1989 only for he was dropped for playing soccer in 73 having played senior in 72.

Donnellys Hollow

Johnny Culloty

Won his first title as a forward in 55. Won four more in goal, the last coming in 1970.

I think he won a junior hurling All Ireland too.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

Dropped by his club too. Wasn't on the Nemo team that beat Vincent's in '73 club final.  Hard to believe now, looking back.

Seamus Darby was on the 72 team as well, and I think he may have been a sub on the 71 team.

Slightly off-topic but Christy Ring's first National League Final was in the 39/40 season and last League final was the 61/62 season.

John Doyle won his first All-Ireland medal in 1949 and his last in 1965. I think the longest gap between the first and second medal, like John O'Leary, is probably a more interesting trivia question.

Sean Lowry would be on that list 72-82.

I know we are not talking about club All Ireland's, but how about Paul Hearty, 1997 and 2015?

And we are especially not talking about AI titles that have not been won yet!  :-[

Miles off topic but goalkeeper Kenny MacDonald of Kyles Athletic won his first Camanachd Cup in 1983, his second in 1994 and his third in 2012 when his son Roddy, who wasn't born in 1983, was man of the match in the final.
