The Hyde has the same future as Tuam Stadium. It might get Roscommon club matches.

You need to live in the real world, McHale Park really has to be used in the same way as Croke Park is in Leinster.

McHale Park is no Croke Park and it certainly won't be used like one.

He is a green & red version of Syf and Rossfan.

I wouldn't pay much heed.

Mayo ye are acting like nouveau riche because ye have some sates now at McHale bought on credit.  A real Gaa supporter would never turn his nose up at having to stand in a terrace or sit his arse on a cold concrete slab. Some great games were viewed by men standing on muddy embankments on wet winter days. They never complained. They were a better breed of man too and many were your county men back in the day.
This is true Neither of them complained

No matter which way you look at it, it's got to be McHale for Connacht Finals from here on.
Mr. Prenty - we know that's been your aim for the last few years ;)

Mr Prenty also brought the rule in during the early 90s that any provincial final involving Sligo or Leitrim who don't have grounds big enough to host finals would have their finals played at a neutral ground. So while we all wait on development of Hyde park Connacht finals in the next few years would have be played in..

Mayo v Roscommon,Sligo or Letrim - Pearse stadium
Galway v Roscommon,Sligo or Leitrim - MacHale park
Roscommon v Sligo or Leitrim - Pearse or MacHale
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

I think the 'home' side as it were, has a say in deciding where the final should be played.
In 2012 for instance when Sligo played Mayo, it was left to their CB to select a venue.
Apparently, since the last championship clash between the two had been in Castlebar, Sligo now could make the decision.
If you recall, there was a big element of farce as the rumours flew.
It seems the Connacht Council made an offer to Sligo offering a financial inducement to let the game be played in McHale Park.
Pearse was too far away to suit the supporters of both counties and the Hyde was deemed unsuitable because of its dilapidated condition.
Eventually, the game went ahead in the Hyde and nobody seemed the worse  for wear as a result.

The home side gets the pick on the neutral venue.

The rumours were untrue pure paper or online talk, as per the CC meeting at the time Castlebar was never in the running for 2012 final the only options was Pearse & Hyde Park. If Leitrim had beaten London the Connacht final would have been played in Salthill this summer. No rule in place for London so Prenty was able to able get the final in MacHale park last July.

The final will be in McHale park this year anyways , Mayo v fancy dans final is a shoe in.

Just a quick message to the WANs worried about Mayo s finances, 100 euro a ticket for Sundays bash in Westport , half a million raised so far from a man in Chicago alone. Dig deep lads and lassies , player auction on the day too.

McHale park should be the home to all Connacht finals other than Mayo v Galway as  the arrangement can be kept for that one. The minnow counties like Ross , Sligo and Leitrim should be honoured to play at McHale park , they really don't know the reality of their place in the gaa world yet.

Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

Sure Ulster could give Galway  a loan saying they getting a stadium built mostly with Govt money up north

Galway GAA should go into administration (like Glasgow Rangers) give up all the connacht and All Ireland Titles (unlike Glasgow Rangers) and re emerge as Galway 2014 or something
